A French fighter intercepted a stolen passenger plane that had flown over Toulon military naval base having been stolen from Italy by a man claiming to be Slovakian and wearing no shoes.
Airspace over Nice was closed briefly on Wednesday morning due to the incident, which ended when the hijacker landed the aircraft at Aix-Les-Milles airfield and was arrested without resistance.
The suspect had no identity papers or flight plan, and reportedly handed authorities a letter written in English.
