THE DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO, INDEPENDENCE DAY 30 JUNE OF EVERY YEAR. POPULATION: 78.74million (In 2016) GDP: $35 billion (In 2017). INDEPENDENCE: 30 JUNE 1960. CAPITAL CITY: Kinshasa. As the World joins D.R Congo in Celebrating their 58th Independence day, here are my look backs in the state of Congo. ..................................................................................................................................................................................... PLIGHT IN CONGO. Since 1996 over 6 million people have died in the Democratic republic of Congo!!! So that, people in the Western Countries can benefit from its Natural resources. Congo is the extremely rich in Gold, Copper, Uranium, Diamond, Coltan, Mercury, Cobalt, Tin and many others. Congo has 64% of the Earth's Coltan. #Coltan is a precious mineral that is needed in manufacturing our modern electronics like Computers, Smartphones, Jet Engines, Printers, Nintendo, iPads, Playstations, Laptops, Xbox, iPhones and etc etc. In 1946, a strategic minerals stockpiling Law was passed to obtain and stockpile Cobalt. With the highest reserve of Cobalt on the Planet, #Congo was targeted. #Cobalt is a strategic and precious mineral that is essential for Aerospace, Military and Defence Industry. As the United State and United Kingdom provide a Financial Aid and Military Aid to Countries like Uganda and Rwanda, These Neighboring countries plunder Congo's Natural resources as the death toll rises. In 4 Studies, United Nation implicated "MULTINATIONAL COMPANIES" in sourcing Coltan from Congo, stating that, these companies as the "ENGINE OF THE UNENDING CONFLICT" in Congo. As the World benefits from Congo's Natural riches, Congolese Men, Women and Children continue to be raped, tortured, starved, displaced and killed. In 2010, a Leaked United Nation report said, "Crimes of Genocide" perpetuated in Congo by the Rwandan Troops and Ugandan Troops. There is little media attention and coverage by the International Medias like AlJazeera, BBC, Washington Post, CNN, New York Times The Wall Street journal & etc etc, on "What is happening in Congo". When Congo is often Covered by the International Medias, it is often about Rebels Committing mass massacres. What their reports do not cover are, the Fundings, Training and the Arming of these rebel groups by foreign Governments like US, Uganda, UK and Rwanda. Nothing is ever mentioned about the Western Countries backing the Quos, Wars and Assassinations or Involvement of foreign Cooperation in "Looting of Congo". In Congo, over 30 women are raped everyday, millions are displaced, over 6 million are dead! Of which, Half are children under the Age of 25 years. Everyone in the World should rise up to reprimand this gross Genocide, War, Torture and Terrorism fueled up by Neighboring Countries of Congo and at the same time, backed up by Western Countries. Of the Plunder done in Congo, by Foreign countries, the Government of Congo has turned so harshty to Foreigners entering in to Congo. You are then brutally murdered or died of workload, torture & stress! and then, They sale off the remaining piece of land to return your body home for burial. Nothing is left, your parents die of stress. Your insane president exhausted education system in Uganda, so you failed together with him. An uneducated and illiterate population is easy to oppress and manipulate for their selfish political gains, while they clap hands for their tormentor. Hallo everyone, i am intrigued to pen this piece of phrase for everyone (especially Ugandans), at a moment the World and Ugandans are eagerly waiting for the judgement about the #Age_Limit petition being argued out at MBALE High Court. I thank everyone for such hollow and water holding expectancy. This month, we all saw the Chief Judge Justice #Alfonso_Owini_Dolo, screaming and requesting people to pray for him ahead of passing the Age Limit petition amidst vast public expectancy for fair Judgement in the Trial. The judicial system, for expecting Justice in Uganda died long ago in early 2000's. If i may not be wronged to affirm for you what Mr Museveni said few years ago, "During 1980's, We even had Courts but we opted for terrorism and Gorilla war because we knew the Courts were not going to serve us Justice! Thus, not transparent" - Mr Museveni is quoted saying this. Perhaps, if he can bubble to accent in public, what ever else trust do Ugandans have in the current Judiciary of Uganda, whose supremo is Museveni?. This is a small hint yet. To look into deeper, Mr Museveni has been undermining and rebuking "The 1995 Constitution (Mother Law of Uganda)", Calling it a "Mere Paper". Operating under the Judiciary of Mr Museveni is of no difference. Any Law suit or Court petition against Mr Museveni or Against anyone who is a darling to M7, is a nightmare except his political opponents (enemies - he terms them). You all saw, 2001 Election petition against Museveni, being dismissed! The same thing happened in 2005 Election Petition and repeated in 2011 Election Petition. Later in 2005, Dr Besigye was arrested on already trumped up charges of "Defilement, sex assault, blah blah blah and all those hypothesis directives under dictator museveni reign. What some people may call, "State conspiracy", masked Gun wielding thugs surfaced at Court chambers, where Dr Kizza Besigye's trial was proceeding and they whisked him away to unknown destination. The reign of darkness. I am out of words! What, a rape of Justice Temple!. Around 2015, the people who had fallen out with Museveni, were seen publicly confessing, to have participated in rigging the previous presidential elections in interest and favor of dictator museveni. The General elections in Uganda were last conducted on February 2016. As the obvious, a hand-picked and bias electoral commission Mr Kiggundu declared Museveni as the winner, Dr Besigye in the second position, Mbabazi in the third position and the results went until the Seventh. Law mandates aggrieved Candidates or Parties to challenge General election results in court, within a period of "60" days. A chemical ally Mr Kayihura went nuts! Freedom of Besigye was curtailed, he was put under an illegal house arrest for more than 2 months. The constitutional mandate duration for aggrieved Candidates to file an election petition elapsed when Dr Kizza Besigye was still being manhandled by, the then, Inspector general of police Gen Kale Kayihura. Former Uganda prime minister Mr Amama Mbabazi, who was also one the Presidential Contenders in 2016 General elections, succeeded in filing an Election Petition challenging the victory of Mr Museveni as the President for Uganda. The World saw petitioner Amama #Mbabazi's Lawyers undressing the rot in Ugandan Judiciary. The 3 respondents in the petition; Mr Museveni, Attorney general and Electoral commission were all stammering to brutforce. World saw Lying Liars being exposed. Though the facts were extreme, bias Judiciary went ahead to dismiss the Election Petition and later on tasked Government to review some of the Electoral Laws that basically favor ruling party in Government (NRM government), the same orders which were sought in previous Presidential election petitions of 2001, 2005 & 2011. The current Uganda Judiciary system under dictator museveni reign is been intimidated and threatened. What a Kangaroo court! The sawa truth in Uganda is, Mr Museveni is Law and Law is Museveni. A procession which was exited of the physical presence of Dr Besigye, was brutally tortured and one FDC supporter was deliberately ran over by Police vehicle!. Despite the viral video footage of this barbaric act, Uganda Police force denied their vehicle being responsible in knocking down and beating other Opposition Supporters. Collective Law firms including #Lukwago.Co.Advocates sued the then IGP Kale Kayihura among other fellow police officers, to answer for their inhuman acts and brutality. Not surprising, Mr Kayihura mocked Opposition, Human Rights Activists, Judiciary and all other people who were against Kayihura / Police brutality, by not showing up in court. Instead, True generosity of suppressing JUSTICE, pinned when a group of some bribed youth (Including the Boda Boda 2010 crew + their Leader #Abdu_Kittata) emerged at Makindy magistrate Court to thwart the reading of Charges and Prosecution of Police officers together with Kale Kayihura. These gangs were demonstrating against the Summoning of Police officers and their boss Kayihura. Prosecution Lawyers survived with minor injuries and others took off for safety, in trial chambers of the magistrate while the thugs kept pelting stones and invaded into the trial chambers. To the Contrary, Government forces / Ministers were seen awash on Televisions and Papers, defending and later on applauding Uganda Police fraternity and Kayihura for the torture meted upon innocent civilians. #Jeje_Odongo and #Obiga_Kania etc etc said, Police CHIEF Mr Kayihura was just performing his constitutional mandate. Really, when did torturing innocent civilians, became a Law in Uganda and The World at large?. Insinuating a valid signal that, Any Law suit against Museveni or his NRM party or his supporters or his cadres will never succeed! Reason, He is the Law and the Law is him. He appoints Judges, He commands them how to pass judgements in court cases involving him, his party or his interests and he also commands the Judiciary on what charges to levy upon his Political opponents, his enemies and none cooperating individuals / people. On the Legislature (Parliament), Mr Museveni commands Parliament to fabricate Laws to his favor where necessary. Have a keen analysis of the #Penal_Code_Act and #Ant-Ponography_Act and the #Public_Order_Management_Act (POMA). The piffle POMA law streamlined Opposition and other Activists, from conducting any consultation or a meeting minus the consent of Police and the permission must be requested for, 4 days in advance! Which in most cases, has been denied for this targeted group (Activists / Opposition Politicians). Any group of people or persons who organise a rally, a consultation, a meeting or any event similar to Activism, will be thwarted and arrested by Police. Such gross human rights violations befuddled me. The Routine in Uganda since 2000 UpTo date, is, what is called "THE WINNER TAKES IT ALL". Of course, Through Use of Arms and Terrorism, YOWERI KAGUTA seized power in 1986 and is still mercilessly ruling Uganda while he is wielding an iron in his hands (Ruling Ug with Iron hands). #REMEMBER; if the 4 Arms of the Government can be convinced to behove persecution, they can usually also be convinced that JUSTICE never existed. I admit, in all my Life, to ever side and defend JUSTICE!. "JUSTICE" is the most high God in exile, from Uganda. The White House narrative — articulated in different settings by Trump, Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, Attorney General Jeff Sessions and others — was that Democrats were at fault for a pre-existing framework of laws and policies, including an Obama-era detention waiver for families, that the administration says has encouraged immigrants to fraudulently claim familial relations. In fact, the separation policy is a direct result of the Trump administration's decision to implement a "zero-tolerance" policy at the border, and the White House has not been able to demonstrate any Democratic policies that created it. Nonetheless, the president and his top aides continue to insist that fraudulent family claims have led to human-trafficking enterprises and other criminal activities, though have produced little evidence to that effect. "It holds Dreamers and kids who have been separated from their parents hostage in order to cut legal immigration and enact the hard right’s immigration agenda. An Angolan prosecutor on Friday sought the conviction of outspoken rights activist and journalist Rafael Marques for accusing a former attorney general of corruption in a real estate deal. Pedro Pederneira said Marques had insulted public authority in the 2016 article where he alleged that Joao Maria de Sousa had been involved in a dodgy land purchase. The verdict is due on July 6. Marques, who is on trial with another journalist, risks a three-year prison term if convicted. ‘Public prosecutor calls for my conviction for crimes of insult to public authority & against the state. He exonerates his ex boss – the plaintiff – of corruption & blames local admin instead,’ the 46-year-old Marques tweeted in English after the court hearing. CHINESE HACKERS CARRIED OUT COUNTRY-LEVEL WATERING HOLE ATTACK. Cybersecurity researchers have uncovered an espionage campaign that has targeted a national data center of an unnamed central Asian country in order to conduct watering hole attacks. The campaign is believed to be active covertly since fall 2017 but was spotted in March by security researchers from Kaspersky Labs, who have attributed these attacks to a Chinese-speaking threat actor group called LuckyMouse. LuckyMouse, also known as Iron Tiger, EmissaryPanda, APT 27 and Threat Group-3390, is the same group of Chinese hackers who was found targeting Asian countries with Bitcoin mining malware early this year. The group has been active since at least 2010 and was behind many previous attack campaigns resulting in the theft of massive amounts of data from the directors and managers of US-based defense contractors. This time the group chose a national data center as its target from an unnamed country in Central Asia in an attempt to gain "access to a wide range of government resources at one fell swoop." According to the researchers, the group injected malicious JavaScript code into the official government websites associated with the data center in order to conduct watering hole attacks. Although LuckyMouse has been spotted using a widely used Microsoft office Vulnerability (CVE-2017-11882) to weaponize Office documents in the past, researchers have no proofs of this technique being used in this particular attack against the data center. The initial attack vector used in the attack against the data center is unclear, but researchers believe LuckyMouse possibly had conducted watering hole or phishing attacks to compromise accounts belonging to employees at the national data center. The attack against the data center eventually infected the targeted system with a piece of malware called HyperBro, a Remote Access Trojan (RAT) deployed to maintain persistence in the targeted system and for remote administration. "There were traces of HyperBro in the infected data center from mid-November 2017. Shortly after that different users in the country started being redirected to the malicious domain update.iaacstudio[.]com as a result of the waterholing of government websites," the researchers said in a blog post published on Thursday 14 June 2018. "These events suggest that the data center infected with HyperBro and the waterholing campaign are connected." As a result of the waterholing attack, the compromised government websites redirected the country's visitors to either penetration testing suite Browser Exploitation Framework (BeEF) that focuses on the web browser, or the ScanBox reconnaissance framework, which perform the same tasks as a keylogger. The main command and control (C&C) server used in this attack is hosted on an IP address which belongs to a Ukrainian ISP, specifically to a MikroTik router running a firmware version released in March 2016. Researchers believe the Mikrotik router was explicitly hacked for the campaign in order to process the HyperBro malware's HTTP requests without detection.

Those individuals are often members of transnational criminal organisations, which originated in Nigeria but have spread throughout the world,” FBI said. ‘Operation Wire Wire’, a coordinated law enforcement effort by the U.S. Department of Justice, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Department of the Treasury and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, was conducted over a six month period. “The operation culminated in over two weeks of intensified law enforcement activity resulting in 74 arrests in the United States and overseas, including 29 in Nigeria, and three in Canada, Mauritius and Poland. “The operation also resulted in the seizure of nearly $2.4 million, and the disruption and recovery of approximately $14 million in fraudulent wire transfers,” FBI said. “Following an investigation led by the FBI with the assistance of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Criminal Investigation, Gloria Okolie and Paul Aisosa, both Nigerian nationals residing in Dallas, Texas, were charged in an indictment filed on June 6 in the Southern District of Georgia. “According to the indictment, they are alleged to have victimized a real estate closing attorney by sending the lawyer a spoofing email posing as the seller and requesting that proceeds of a real estate sale in the amount of $246,000 be wired to Okolie’s account. “They are charged with laundering approximately $665,000 in illicit funds. His case is pending. “Richard Emem Jackson, aka Auwire, 23, of Lagos, Nigeria, was charged in an indictment filed on May 17 in the District of Massachusetts with two counts of unlawful possession of a means of identification as part of a larger fraud scheme. “According to the indictment, on two occasions in 2017, Jackson is alleged to have possessed the identifications of two victims with the intent to commit wire fraud conspiracy,”the U.S. authorities said. The U.S. authorities expressed gratitude for the outstanding efforts of the participating countries, including law enforcement actions that were coordinated and executed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Nigeria to curb business email compromise schemes that defraud businesses and individuals alike. U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions said: “This operation, which was funded and coordinated by the FBI, serves as a model for international cooperation against specific threats that endanger the financial well-being of each member country’s residents. “Fraudsters can rob people of their life’s savings in a matter of minutes. BEC, also known as “cyber-enabled financial fraud,” is a sophisticated scam often targeting employees with access to company finances and businesses working with foreign suppliers and/or businesses that regularly perform wire transfer payments. The same criminal organisations that perpetrate BEC also exploit individual victims, often real estate purchasers, the elderly, and others, by convincing them to make wire transfers to bank accounts controlled by the criminals. This is often accomplished by impersonating a key employee or business partner after obtaining access to that person’s email account or sometimes done through romance, lottery, employment opportunities, fraudulent online vehicle sales, and rental scams. Facebook admits as many as 14 millions of its users who thought they're sharing content privately with only friends may have inadvertently shared their posts with everyone because of a software bug. Facebook said in front of Congress in March over the Cambridge Analytica scandal that "every piece of content that you share on Facebook you own, you have complete control over who sees it and how you share it," but the news came out to be another failure of the company to keep the information of millions of users private. Facebook typically allows users to select the audiences who can see their posts, and that privacy setting remains the default until the user itself manually updates it. However, the social media giant revealed Thursday that it recently found a bug that automatically updated the default audience setting for 14 million users' Facebook posts to "Public," even if they had intended to share them just with their friends, or a smaller group of people only. "We recently discovered a technical error between May 18 and 27 that automatically suggested a public audience when you were creating posts," Facebook's 'Please Review Your Posts' alert sent to affected users reads. "We apologize for this mistake." According to Facebook chief privacy officer Erin Egan, the bug was live for a period of 4 days between May 18 and May 22, which was caused while the company was testing a new feature. Egan said the Facebook team fixed the bug within 4 days on May 22 and changed the default audience setting back to what it was previously set by the affected users. So, the posts you shared with your friends after May 22 would not be affected. However, if you have shared content between the affected period, i.e., May 18 to May 22, which went public automatically, the company fixed the privacy settings for those posts by May 27 and is now notifying all affected users. "We have fixed this issue and starting today we are letting everyone affected know and asking them to review any posts they made during that time," Egan said. "To be clear, this bug did not impact anything people had posted before—and they could still choose their audience just as they always have. We'd like to apologize for this mistake." She insisted that despite the frustrations in trying to catch the “powerful thieves,” she will not resign but continue and see out her contract. “I do not resign anyhow and I have only two years remaining to finish my contract. I still have a lot to do in fighting corruption. There are people who present the front that we are not competent enough to investigate them. May be they think my officers are too junior to investigate them. Let the special unit (appointed by the President) do the senior role,” Ms Mulyagonja told Daily Monitor in a telephone interview yesterday evening. During the State-of-the-Nation Address on Wednesday, President Museveni questioned the effectiveness of the IGG and her officers in fighting corruption. He announced an alternative unit under his office which will fight corruption in the country. However, Justice Mulyagonja told a press conference at her office earlier in the afternoon yesterday that she welcomed the creation of the new anti-corruption body headed by former Secretary General of Uganda National Teachers Union, Mr James Tweheyo. However, later in the interview, she said the President’s public spat against her would not deter her from executing her mandate. “Why would I resign? We serve the nation and if the Head of State alone is not happy and goes public, the rest are happy. In such a situation my work is to give information and the information is that though we are posted by the President, we report to parliament. Parliament is happy with my reports and they know our challenges,” Ms Mulyagonja said. She admitted some of her staff are not credible but said those against whom complaints have been reported have been subjected to the internal investigation and disciplinary process. The IGG said in the remaining two years of her contract, she will intensify fighting corruption, especially to recover stolen money and assets from corrupt government officials. Justice Mulyagonja said she recovered Shs2b from government thieves in 2015/16 financial year and Shs1.6b in 2016/2017. She said she also saved government from a loss of Shs76b by launching investigations into reported corruption cases over the same period. The IGG pledged technical support to the new anti-corruption unit if necessary. She said its appointment will relieve her of the tripartite burden of fighting corruption, being Ombudsman and implementing the Leadership Code. She also warned that the President’s creation of parallel units to the established offices will render the official government ministries, departments and agencies irrelevant. “If every ministry will have an alternative unit in State House, will he then close the ministries? Personally, the IGG is doing a good work and I think they have challenges that need to be addressed. The President should hear her out. I do not support the President putting up a parallel structure because it will hinder her work,” Ms Lumumba said. Concern She also wondered whether the three officials appointed by the President to fight corruption through his office had been vetted by any competent authority established by law for that purpose. 75% OF THE 'LEFT TO GET HACKED' REDIS SERVERS FOUND INFECTED. Despite the continual emergence of new cyber attacks because of misconfigured servers and applications, people continue to ignore security warnings. A massive malware campaign designed to target open Redis servers, about which researchers warned almost two months ago, has now grown and already hijacked at least 75% of the total servers running publicly accessible Redis instances. Redis, or REmote DIctionary Server, is an open source, widely popular data structure tool that can be used as an in-memory distributed database, message broker or cache. Since it is designed to be accessed inside trusted environments, it should not be exposed on the Internet. Dubbed RedisWannaMine, a similar malware leveraging same loophole was discovered in late March by data center security vendor Imperva and designed to drop a cryptocurrency mining script on the targeted servers—both database and application. According to Imperva's March blog post, this cryptojacking threat was "more complex in terms of evasion techniques and capabilities. It demonstrates a worm-like behavior combined with advanced exploits to increase the attackers' infection rate and fatten their wallets." A newly published report from the same security firm has now revealed that three-quarters of the open Redis servers accessible from the Internet (over port 6379) contain malicious sets of a key-value pair in the memory, indicating despite multiple warnings administrators continue to leave their servers vulnerable to hackers. Out of total compromised servers, 68 percent systems were found infected using similar keys, named "backup1, backup2, backup3," which were attacked from a medium-sized botnet located at China (86% of IPs), according to the data Imperva collected from their self-set-up publicly available Redis servers to serve as a honeypot. Moreover, the attackers have now found using the compromised servers as a proxy to scan and find vulnerabilities, including SQL injection, cross-site scripting, malicious file uploads, and remote code executions, in other websites. The new attack works by setting a malicious key-value pair in the memory and saving it as a file in the /etc/crontabs folder that forces the server to execute the file. "Attackers usually set values that include commands to download external remote resource and run it. Another popular type of command is adding SSH keys, so the attacker can remotely access the machine and take it over," Nadav Avital, security research team leader at Imperva, explains in a blog post. To protect Redis servers from falling victim to such attacks, administrators are advised never to expose their servers to the Internet, but if required, apply authentication mechanism to prevent unauthorized access. Also, since Redis doesn't use encryption and stores data in plain text, you should never store any sensitive data on these servers. "Security issues commonly arise when people don’t read the documentation and migrate services to the cloud, without being aware of the consequences or the adequate measures that are needed to do so," Avital said.

According to a lengthy report published by The New York Times, the social network giant struck data-sharing partnerships with at least 60 device manufacture companies so that they could offer Facebook messaging functions, "Like" buttons, address books, and other features without requiring their users to install a separate app. The agreements were reportedly made over the last 10 years, starting before Facebook apps were widely available on smartphones. Most notably, the publication suggests that the partnerships could be in breach of a 2011 consent decree by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), which barred Facebook from granting other companies access to data of User's Facebook friends without their explicit consent. During the Cambridge Analytica Scandal revealed in March this year, Facebook stated that it already ceased allowing such third-party access in 2015 only, but the publication suggests that this does not include "makers of cellphones, tablets and other hardware."
