 Facebook   on Thursday announced that it has changed its company name to Meta. The name change was announced at the Facebook Connect augmented and virtual reality conference. The new name reflects the company’s growing ambitions beyond social media. Facebook, now known as Meta, has adopted the new moniker, based on the sci-fi term metaverse, to describe its vision for working and playing in a virtual world. “Today we are seen as a social media company, but in our DNA we are a company that builds technology to connect people, and the metaverse is the next frontier just like social networking was when we got started,” Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said.  The company also said in announcing the new name that it will change its stock ticker from FB to MVRS, effective Dec. 1. Over 70% of Wi-Fi networks from a sample size of 5,000 were hacked with "relative ease" in the Israeli city of Tel Aviv, highlighting how unsecure Wi-Fi passwords can become a gateway for serious threats to individuals, small businesses, and enterprises alike. The High Court in Mubende has nullified William Museveni Ndooli's election as the Buwekula South Constituency Member of Parliament and ordered for a by-election. This follows a petition filed by his rival the National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearer, Mr Fred Tumwesigye. According to Justice Eva Luswata's ruling read by court registrar Godfrey Kaweesi on Tuesday, there was credible evidence of multiple voting during the January 14 election. A global fraud campaign has been found leveraging 151 malicious Android apps with 10.5 million downloads to rope users into premium subscription services without their consent and knowledge. The premium SMS scam campaign — dubbed "UltimaSMS" — is believed to commenced in May 2021 and involved apps that cover a wide range of categories, including keyboards, QR code scanners, video and photo editors, spam call blockers, camera filters, and games, with most of the fraudulent apps downloaded by users in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, the U.A.E., Turkey, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, the U.S., and Poland. Although a significant chunk of the apps in question has since been removed from the Google Play Store, 82 apps continued to remain available in the online marketplace as of October 19, 2021.  Today, I had a rare encounter with the former Arua Municipality mayor and legislator Hon Saidi Nasur Okuti and we deliberated on the delayed degazettement of Barifa Central Forest Reserve, the fight between Hon Oguzu Lee Denis of Maracha Constituency and certain leaders in Arua City and the clashes last Monday the legislator had with a group of youths protesting the parceling of a portion to Oguzu in order to develop an ecotourism facility. We then asked ourselves why the same youths and their leaders weren't fighting Mvara Junior School, the office of the Director of Public Prosecutor, the Salim Saleh land acquired land and Springs Nursery and Primary School that have all encroached ILLEGALLY on the forest. CAIRO, Oct 25 (Reuters) – Islamic state claimed responsibility for a bomb attack that killed at least one person in Uganda’s capital Kampala on Saturday night, the militant group said in a statement posted in an affiliated Telegram channel late on Sunday. The group said that some of its members detonated an explosive device in a bar where “members and spies of the Crusader Ugandan government were gathering” in Kampala. The bomb, packed with nails and shrapnel, targeted a pork restaurant on the outskirts of the capital, police said on Sunday. Information gathered indicated that three men, disguised as customers, visited the restaurant, placed a polythene bag under a table and left moments before the explosion, police said. The explosion killed a 20-year-old waitress and injured three people, two of whom were in critical condition, police said, adding all indications suggest an act of domestic terror. A top City Lawyer, name withheld, has added a voice on the continuous fighting of Hon Oguzu by a section of some Politicians in the City. What I have failed to understand in all this debate is as follows; Where were we all when NFA which is the body in charge of Barifa Central Forest placed the request for expression of interest from willing eco- tourism developers to develop Barifa Forest. Why did we not get a Court injunction against NFA at that time. Why are we now wasting our time crucifying Hon. Oguzu Lee  for expressing interest and for being successful. I think this has nothing to do with Degazzeting of Barifa CFR.  Hon. Lee you haven’t done anything wrong. Just go ahead and establish an environmentally friendly eco tourism Centre complete with grass thatched lodges and we shall become tourist attraction hub.

 When Akon and his wife visited Uganda back in May, they paid a courtesy call on President Museveni. In the meeting, Akon asked Museveni to avail him land to build a futuristic city in his name like he’s doing in his home country, Senegal.  The past few days have been busy with defamatory statements attributed to my name on Facebook and other social media platforms in regards to the current saga involving NFA, Hon Oguzu Lee Denis, Arua City Council and some youths who are against the Eco-Tourism project. I wish to state here that at no time have I organized any meetings to mobilize any group of youths to demonstrate against or antagonize Hon Oguzu's project based on tribal or sectarian basis as alleged. If the authors of these malicious stories have no evidence to these allegations then they should prepare for the legal consequences. In my 15 years of active political and public life I have performed my duties and responsibilities with utmost respect, fairness, justice and professionalism and therefore will not take accusations of tribalism and sectarianism very lightly.

There are some false reports that, there is expiry of the Term of License obtained by Hon Oguzu for the development of Barifa Forest for Ecotourism. Those are half-baked Information prepetrated by propagandists. You should be reminded that, the Two years period were for the approval and environmental assessment. Hon Denis Lee Oguzu has a valid license. The doubting Thomases should go to NFA office for further clarity.

Accessing Facebook through Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) is now the only way one can access the platform in Uganda since early 2021. Government blocked the social media giant in the country at the peak of the recently held general election in reaction to Facebook’s decision to take down a number of Ugandan government officials accounts. Facebook said in its transparency report that they had removed Ugandan pro – Museveni accounts for using duplicate accounts ahead of the presidential elections. According to the same report, the total number of the deleted accounts was 426. 210 pages, 62 groups and 153 Instagram accounts were also deleted in the same purge. The removed accounts were accused of taking part in a Coordinated Inauthentic Behaviour (CIB), which Facebook viewed as coordinated efforts to manipulate public debate for a strategic goal. I am sure most of you are aware about the current discussions about Ayivu, Barifa Central Forest Reserve and Tribalism accusations in which my name has been dragged maliciously to damage my reputation and personality. I have thought of many options to defend myself from some of the attacks but have come to conclude I will not win the battle as a person and therefore need to surrender all to God Almighty.   The spokesperson of the Uganda Prisons Service, Frank Baine has denied claims that MPs Mohammed Ssegirinya and Allan Ssewanyana were tortured in detention. Last week, when the Kawempe North MP Ssegirinya appeared before Buganda Road Court Grade, he showed court what appeared to be rotting feet, with wounds which he said were a result of continuous torture while in prison. Appearing on the NBS TV’s Morning Breeze on Wednesday however, Baine denied the claims, saying the legislator was already sick at the time he was handed over to them. “It has never been in our interest that we torture our family members. Yes, Hon. Ssegirinya is sick, and we are treating him for as long as he is with us, many times, we receive these inmates from court when they are already sick,” Baine said. Baine maintained that as Prisons, they do not torture people. “When someone has been tortured, we encourage them to tell us when they were tortured and by who.  I walked into a hotel and after going through the menu, I ordered some food. After about 20 mins a group of guys and ladies walked in & ordered theirs. To my dismay, these folks got served first. I watched as they began to eat& laugh heartily. I even overheard one of them bragging about how connected he is to everyone in the hotel and I felt mocked . I decided to leave. Unable to take it anymore , I called the waiter. He calmly told me: "yours is a special order, being prepared by the chief chef himself. Their orders were prepared hurriedly by students on attachment because the top chefs are busy with yours Sir. That's why they were served first. Please have some juice as you wait". I calmed down & waited patiently. Shortly after, my meal was served by 6 waiters. Unknown to me, the owner of the hotel (who happened to be an old long lost friend of mine) saw me when I entered and decided to surprise me. She changed my simple meal to a five-star meal. The party

Yesterday 18-10-2021, those against Hon Denis Lee Oguzu's Ecotourism plan for Barifa Forest, mobilised over 30 innocent Youths from Ayivu to go and storm Arua City Council office. They were offered some littlle monies and alcohol! It beats Human understanding on why on Earth would our fellow Youths allow themselves to be used by some section of Five self-centered politicians!. Out of envy, these people have taken the Ecotourism project in a different angle! Fortunately, their efforts to protest and cause chaos at Arua City Council was futile. Ayivu and Maracha are all Lugbara. These are the same people who speak the same Language. Why would Barifa Forest we got here and we shall eventually leave here on Earth cause us to hate and fight each other, moreover a hateful fight ignited by Tribal Political figures. Regardless of Gender, Religious or Political ideologies, we should condemn Tribalism upto its totality.

A section of elders in Ayivu Division, Arua City were on Sunday urged to support Maracha County MP, Denis Lee Oguzu in his quest to transform Barifa forest into an Eco-tourism facility in the heart of Arua City. The appeal was made by Mike Agondoa, the ‘Chief’ of the people of Ayivu while meeting a group of elders at his home in Mvara, a suburb of Arua town. Agondoa’s appeal follows numerous protests by a section of politicians in Ayivu who are against the intended development in the central forest reserve (CFR). This is after the National Forest Authority (NFA) gave the MP a 2-year license for Eco-tourism development and forest conservation activities in part of the 236 Hectares Barifa CFR. As a result, some youths were recently mobilized to stop the ongoing works at the forest reserve claiming that it was fraudulently given to the MP. But during the meeting with the elders, Agondoa warned against frustrating Oguzu’s effort, arguing that the MP genuinely acquired the license to

The Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) has apprehended Howard Jakernga Openjuru, the leader of Uganda Homeland  Liberation Force (UHLF) – a rebel movement which attacked a UPDF detach in Zombo, West Nile in July 2021. The daring attack in Zombo – about 485 kms from the Capital City Kampala, left two soldiers dead and others wounded.
