Over 30,000 teachers have been fired in the ongoing verification and registration exercise by the Ministry of Education and Sports, which exercise is expected to end in December 2019. According to Dr. Jane Egau Okou the Commissioner in charge of Teacher Education and Instruction revealed that sacked teachers had fake academic papers and appointment letters. Okou expressed that the victims are not allowed to teach in any school and that relevant authorities have been notified. “Using our teacher management system, we are trying to weed out the unqualified teachers. So far, over 30,000 teachers across the country have been dropped. We hope that by December, everyone would have been registered. When we do that, we shall know the qualified teachers we have, then we shall fill the gap. Earlier this year, security researchers at Avast antivirus firm, who were actively monitoring the activities of RETADUP botnet, discovered a design flaw in the malware's C&C protocol that could have been exploited to remove the malware from victims' computer without executing any extra code. The Head of Commercial Court, Justice David Wangutusi is next week on Monday expected to deliver his ruling on the preliminary objection by city tycoon Sudhir Ruparelia in the case in which the Bank of Uganda took him to court,  with the aim of recovering Shs397 billion. Starting today, Chrome, Safari and Firefox users in Kazakhstan will see an error message stating that the "Qaznet Trust Network" certificate should not be trusted when attempting to access a website that responds with the government-issued certificate. Rwanda’s State minister for East African Affairs Olivier Nduhungirehe yesterday insisted that Rwandans were still strongly advised not to travel to Uganda even after presidents Museveni and Paul Kagame agreed on Wednesday to end the tension. In an interview with local newspaper, Mr Nduhungirehe said Rwandans should not travel to Uganda “until all Rwandans” allegedly under the arrest in Uganda are released. “What we request is the release of all Rwandans who are illegally detained. Uganda’s Prime Minister, Dr Ruhakana Rugunda has dismissed existence of mafia within the National Resistance Movement (NRM) regime, describing the allegations as mere talk. “…I have seen this in the media. However, I am not aware of the existence of any mafia group in the government of Uganda,” Rugunda said. Rugunda made the remarks during today’s plenary sitting in response to a question by Elijah Okupa (Kasilo County) to respond to reports by a cabinet member, Evelyn Anite, State Minister for Investment and Privatisation, who alleged that there is mafia in government seeking to kill her for her role of an audit into the Uganda Telecom Limited (UTL). Parliament’s Rules, Privileges and Discipline Committee has recommended that Gen. Elly Tumwine is reprimanded for breach of privilege of Dokolo Woman MP Cecilia Ogwal and for being disrespectful to Parliament.
