The East African Court of Justice has Dismissed Lawyer Mabirizi Kiwanuka's Petition Seeking to Stop Yoweri Kaguta Museveni from Contesting in 2021 Presidential Elections Over Age Limit.

The East African Court of Justice has dismissed lawyer Male H Mabirizi Kiwanuka’s petition seeking to bar President Museveni from participating in 2021 elections on account of old age. The petition Reference No. 6 of 2019 Male H Mabirizi Kiwanuka vs. The Attorney General of Uganda sought to stop President Museveni from appearing on the 2021 ballot on account of age. Museveni who turned 75 would be ineligible to run in 2021 presidential election if he had not scrapped age limit from the constitution. The Reference challenged the decision of the Supreme Court of Uganda that upheld the enactment of Constitutional (Amendment) Act No. 2 of 2018. Court held that the process leading up to the enactment of the Constitutional Amendment was time barred, but found the impugned Supreme Court decision to have been filed within time.  Court further found that the impugned decision was not res judicata and that it had jurisdiction to interrogate the matter. Court found no Treaty violation

Researchers Uncover Cyber Espionage Operation Targeting Military Agencies.

Cybersecurity researchers uncovered fresh evidence of an ongoing cyberespionage campaign against Indian defense units and armed forces personnel at least since 2019 with an aim to steal sensitive information. Dubbed " Operation SideCopy " by Indian cybersecurity firm Quick Heal, the attacks have been attributed to an advanced persistent threat (APT) group that has successfully managed to stay under the radar by "copying" the tactics of other threat actors such as the sidewinder. Exploiting Microsoft Equation Editor Flaw The campaign's starting point is an email with an embedded malicious attachment — either in the form of a ZIP file containing an LNK file or a Microsoft Word document — that triggers an infection chain via a series of steps to download the final-stage payload. Microsoft addressed the issue in a patch released in November 2017.Aside from identifying three different infection chains, what's notable is the fact that one of them exploited templat

Fortinet VPN with Default Settings Leaves Over Thousands of Users Exposed to Hackers.

As the pandemic continues to accelerate the shift towards working from home, a slew of digital threats have capitalized on the health concern to exploit weaknesses in the remote work infrastructure and carry out malicious attacks. Now according to network security platform provider SAM Seamless Network, over 200,000 businesses that have deployed the Fortigate VPN solution—with default configuration—to enable employees to connect remotely are vulnerable to man-in-the-middle (MitM) attacks, allowing attackers to present a valid SSL certificate and fraudulently take over a connection. "We quickly found that under default configuration the SSL VPN is not as protected as it should be, and is vulnerable to MITM attacks quite easily," SAM IoT Security Lab's Niv Hertz and Lior Tashimov said. "The Fortigate SSL-VPN client only verifies that the CA was issued by Fortigate (or another trusted CA), therefore an attacker can easily present a certificate issued to a di

You Ever Wonder How Hackers Can Hack Your Smartphone Remotely ❓. Here it is; Vulnerability in Instagram App Could Have Given Hackers Remote Access to Your Phone.

In a report shared today, Check Point researchers disclosed details about a critical vulnerability in Instagram's Android app that could have allowed remote attackers to take control over a targeted device just by sending victims a specially crafted image. What's more worrisome is that the flaw not only lets attackers perform actions on behalf of the user within the Instagram app—including spying on victim's private messages and even deleting or posting photos from their accounts—but also execute arbitrary code on the device. According to an advisory published by Facebook, the heap overflow security issue (tracked as CVE-2020-1895, CVSS score: 7.8) impacts all versions of the Instagram app prior to 128.0.0.26.128, which was released on February 10 earlier this year. cybersecurity "This [flaw] turns the device into a tool for spying on targeted users without their knowledge, as well as enabling malicious manipulation of their Instagram profile," Check P

Why NRM Party, in Particularly President Museveni and Central Executive Committee Members Should Not Condemn MP Aspirants Who Lost in Party Primary Elections and Decide to Contest on Independent Ticket.

In 1980, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni while contesting on UPM party ticket in the race for Member of Parliament Mbarara North Constituency, Museveni lost to his the then Opponent Sam Kutesa who was contesting on DP party ticket. Museveni lamented that, the Election was "Not Free and Fair". He went ahead to elaborate that, some people (supporters of Sam Kutesa) voted more than two times. He decided to file a Petition in the High Court, seeking to challenge and quash the election victory of Sam Kutesa. Hight Court ruled against him (Yoweri Museveni), and the rest remained as a History. Again on 1985, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni contested for Presidency and lost it to Dr Apollo Milton Obote. He rejected the results, citing President Obote massively rigged the Elections. This time (1985), Museveni did not file any Election Petition anywhere, Neither in High Court nor any other higher levels of Court in Uganda, instead, he took Guns together with his Comrades, and they waged a Wa

CAN YOU STOP YOUR MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT FROM DEFECTING FROM ONE POLITICAL PARTY TO ANOTHER ?.

Article 29 of the Constitution says that every person has the freedom of joining any association or union such as trade unions or political and civic organisations. The Political Parties and organisations Act 2005 says that every citizen of Uganda shall have the freedom to form or join and be part of any political party of their choice.  Based on the law, even if your MP is your representative, he is still a citizen of Uganda and he/she has those those rights under the law. So it is not possible to stop your MP from joining a political party of his choice. Your only remedy would be vote them out of parliament when the elections next come up. CAN BEING DRUNK MAKE A CONTRACT INVALID ❓.

When a 'drunk' person enters into a contract, that contract is genrally dependent on him to allow it to continue or cancel it. (this is called a voidable contract). In order for the 'drunk' person to cancel this contract, the 'drunk' person (like Mwenge) must show that; 1. The 'drunkardness' was severe enough that the person entering into the contract was incapable of understanding what they were doing. 2. The other person was aware of how drunk the other person was at the time. So in short , yes being intoxicated can make a contract invalid in the event one in induced into being intoxicated and then made to enter into a contract by a person who was well aware of the intoxication. In Mwenge's case, since the Kiyingi knew that Mwenge was too drunk to understand anything and used this to manipulate him into selling his boda boda, then the courts can allow Mwenge to set aside his contract with Kiyingi and get his boda boda back. Ho

OPEN LETTER BY ACEMA BENARD, TO HIS EXCELLENCY THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF UGANDA, YOWERI KAGUTA MUSEVENI, REGARDING THE COVID-19 FUNDS DONATED BY VOLUNTEERS (WELL WISHERS).

Your Excellency, when it comes to combating the the coronavirus, saving the lives of ugandans, iam with you and I appreciate your success and efforts aimed at containing the spread of coronavirus in the country by instituting coronavirus taskforce in every district which is commendable work. However, your Excellency what made me to write this letter is the complaint arising from the public over the money donations, or contributions received from individuals in regards to the control and containment of the pandemic which is the new vision of today that ALL THE MONEY COLLECTED BY TASKFORCE TO FIGHT COVID-19 WAS STOLEN. Your Excellency Basing on this, It is a welcoming idea if you can set a response transparent taskforce team with the primary role to ensure and instill integrity, accountability and transparency in the utilization and management of funds appertaining to covid-19 response activities. Iam sure this can minimize such cases of mismanagement and misappropriation of

COVID-19 Money Thieves Unmasked: Presidential Advisor Dr Musenero’s Ghost Agency Sucks UGX.31Billion.

Investigation Exclusive : Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, government agencies have invented genius ways to splash taxpayer’ bills. Many a time neither accountability nor follow-up reports have been given after money is released. How exactly the UGX21Bn was expended on locusts is still a mystery. Oh! The UGX10Bn supplementary budget for parliamentarians pay-out; how did that end? This has been the norm in the country. Complacency of the resigned public has created state leeway to operate without consequence. Perhaps not shockingly, we have authoritatively learned that a ghost agency is claiming UGX31Bn from the consolidated fund. The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) has liaised with an unknown entity called the Presidential Scientific Initiative on Epidemics (PRESIDE) instigated by the Senior Presidential Adviser on epidemics, Dr Monica Musenero, to finance ‘research’ projects related to the Covid-19 pandemic. MOSTI, acting as the legal accounting ent
