Police Hunts for a Woman Who Injected her 6-year-old Stepson with Paraffin Following a Quarrel with her Husband.

Mariam Namukose a resident of Bukyaye village, Nakalama sub-county in Iganga district injected Arnold Mumbya with paraffin after accusing her husband Isaac Bogere of failing to buy necessities for their one-year-old daughter instead of giving them to the victim. According to Bogere, she took advantage of the absence of neighbours to inject Mumbya with paraffin using a syringe used on cattle and other livestock. “I had just gone to the neighbourhood to buy some things only to come back and find my son lying on the bed crying because of sharp pain in his backside,” he said. Bogere said Mumbya told him that he had been injected with paraffin by Namukose who ordered him not to narrate his ordeal to anyone or else she would kill him. Mumbya had earlier complained to his father about having mild fever and he was given some tablets by Namukose to swallow in the morning. HEALTH VS SECURITY: TIME TO RETHINK OUR HEAVY INVESTMENT IN NOW SILENT GUNS AND CLASSIFIED EXPENDITURE.

By Oguzu Lee Breaking News-- Covid-19 has lifted the veil on security and parliament's rubber-stamping role. We're at war and all our guns are silent. Isn't it time to question our usual sloganeering and reimagine our nation's health and security spending?  In the name of security and classfied expenditure, a lot of money has been pumped in defence and some spent without much needed scrutiny. As such, security has become a sought-after-investment portfolio for many govermnents of least developing countries that often fail to deliver their citizens to middle income status despite heavy military spending.  A quick  look at Uganda's budgetary allocations from 2018-2021 clearly sheds light on the disparity between defence and health as our nation's investment priority.  According to Microtrends, Uganda's military spending for 2019 was a 58.13% increase from 2018,  for 2018 was a 17.77% increase from 2017, for 2017 was a 8.86% increase from 2016. Bobi Wine speaks; Two weeks ago, Charles Olim aka Sipapa was arrested and detained. Reports indicate that he is being held at SID Kireka, where very many of our comrades have been detained and continue to be detained and tortured. What is unique about Sipapa is that before his arrest, he was the face of the impunity of the Museveni regime. He was the example of everything that has gone wrong in Uganda. He moved around with guns terrorising innocent citizens with reckless

OTT Ends Today 30-6-2021; Government Moves to Scrap Social Media Tax after It Suffered Fate of Huge Criticism and Boycotting from Ugandans Since Its Introduction on 1-July-2018.

Payment for Over The Top (OTT) tax or using Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) to evade the social media tax in Uganda ends today. Starting Thursday July 1, 2021 Ugandans will start accessing Internet services and all other social media sites without paying OTT. Government abolished the Shs200 per day OTT tax and imposed a 12 per cent tax on Internet data in the new financial year. It takes effect from tomorrow. The social media tax was first introduced in 2018 amid resistance from the public. Then Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine led streets protests in Kampala against the tax. Government then decided to drop the tax, saying Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) failed to hit the target, collecting only Shs49.5bn out of the targeted Shs284bn from OTT for Financial Year 2018/2019. OTT tax was abolished by 11th Parliament in the Excise Duty (Amendment) Act, 2021, and replaced with excise duty on Internet data.

Court Sentences former South African President Jacob Zuma to 15 Months in Jail Over Corruption Related Charges.

Judge wants former South African President Zuma jailed for contempt of court Jacob Zuma was forced to step down as South Africa's president in 2018 South Africa’s former President Jacob Zuma has been sentenced to 15 months by the highest court in the country. This came after the Constitutional Court found him guilty of contempt after defying the court’s order to appear at an inquiry into corruption while he was president. Mr Zuma’s time in power, which ended in 2018, was dogged by graft allegations. Businessmen were accused of conspiring with politicians to influence the decision-making process. The former president made one appearance at the inquiry into what has become known as “state capture” but then refused to appear subsequently. The inquiry – headed by Justice Raymond Zondo – asked the Constitutional Court to intervene. It is not clear if Mr Zuma will now be arrested. In a separate legal matter, Mr Zuma pleaded not guilty last month in his corruption trial involv

Hackers Trick Microsoft Into Signing Netfilter Driver Loaded With Rootkit Malware.

Microsoft on Friday said it's investigating an incident wherein a driver signed by the company turned out to be a malicious Windows rootkit that was observed communicating with command-and-control (C2) servers located in China. The driver, called "Netfilter" is said to target gaming environments, specifically in the East Asian country, with the Redmond-based firm noting that "the actor's goal is to use the driver to spoof their geo-location to cheat the system and play from anywhere." "The malware enables them to gain an advantage in games and possibly exploit other players by compromising their accounts through common tools like keyloggers," Microsoft Security Response Center (MSRC) said. The rogue code signing was spotted by Karsten Hahn, a malware analyst at German cybersecurity company G Data, who shared additional details of the rootkit, including a dropper, which is used to deploy and install Netfilter on the system. Upon successful installat

Oral Contract 🆚 Written Contract, What Does the Law Say About It.

Kivumbi and Matovu decided to join forces so that they could win tenders to supply beans to the boarding schools in the community. They agreed that they would share the profits 50-50. In addition, Matovu would supply the capital for the beans, and transport the beans to the schools while Kivumbi would provide the land for the farming. When they won the tender, issues arose. Matovu refused to share half the profits because it was his money that was used and even told Kivumbi that he was only entitled to his mercy since there was no contract.  IS IT ONLY A CONTRACT IF IT WAS WRITTEN? No, it is not. A contract can either be in writing or in verbal form. However, there are some contracts that the law requires to be in writing. For example, contracts of employment must be in writing, as well as contracts for buying things above UGX. 500,000. If this is not done, then the person at fault may be ‘punished’ with a fine by the law. However, if the law requires such a contract to be

A Tricky, Unfaithful Wife Lures the Husband into Paying 54M Shs House Rent for a House Owned by Her.

I have been paying rent to my wife as my ‘landlady’ My name is Isaac, I have been married to my wife for the past 5 years and what I didn’t know is that the house we have been renting belongs to her. Before moving into this house, we were renting an apartment in Najjera and she brought the idea of leaving Najjera ‘because she was uncomfortable with being in Najjera’. I okayed her idea and told her that I would look for a house as soon possible. When I returned home one day from a workshop, she asked wether I had gotten the house, I told her no but am going to pay some brokers to help us. She said she had got a house in Ntinda and it’s in a serene environment and every about the house is just fine.  I said ‘okay, if you like it, I can not say no because I love you’. So, we moved in and she openly told me that the owner is in USA and her friend is a caretaker, so she will be the one to receive the money.  Everything was okay for all those years until May 2021 when everything

President Museveni Furious as Police Chiefs Retire a Top Forensic Expert Dramani Ezati and Other Skilled Senior Police Commanders.

File Photo 4-Feb-2016. The Police has remained tight-lipped over the questionable retirement of Senior Commissioner of Police Samuel Ezati Dramani, a top forensic expert in the country. Some senior officers that  New Vision  asked to explain the circumstances surrounding Ezati’s retirement have described the matter as “sensitive”, opting not to comment at the moment. However, Ezati’s family members and close confidants told  New Vision  Wednesday (June 23) that the retired officer, who had been a forensic examiner since 1996, was ready to serve, and was currently waiting for President Yoweri Museveni’s call so as to return for duty. WARNING ⚠️ ; Over 30 Million Dell Devices at Risk for Remote BIOS Attacks, RCE.

Four separate security bugs would give attackers almost complete control and persistence over targeted devices, thanks to a faulty update mechanisms. A high-severity series of four vulnerabilities can allow remote adversaries to gain arbitrary code execution in the pre-boot environment on Dell devices, researchers said. They affect an estimated 30 million individual Dell endpoints worldwide. According to an analysis from Eclypsium, the bugs affect 129 models of laptops, tablet and desktops, including enterprise and consumer devices, that are protected by Secure Boot. Secure Boot is a security standard aimed at making sure that a device boots using only software that is trusted by the device original equipment manufacturer (OEM), to prevent rogue takeovers. The bugs allow privileged network adversaries to circumvent Secure Boot protections, control the device’s boot process, and subvert the operating system and higher-layer security controls, researchers at Eclypsium said on Thursday. THE STRUGGLE FOR CREATION OF AYIVU DISTRICT - BY ANDUA MARTIN.

There is a raging debate and agitation by a section of people from Ayivu to reduce the size of the city and create Ayivu district, which according to them is too big. They also argue that the Ayivu are being disadvantaged by denial of employment opportunities in neighbouring districts and that the budget for the city and Ayivu division is low. Today, there are Ayivu politicians namely, Nyakua Sam, the Mayor of the city, Avutia Malon, the mayor for Ayivu, Feta Geoffrey, MP Ayivu East, Lematia John, MP Ayivu West and Yikita Faustine,Secretary of Ayivu Initiative, the pressure group advocating for the split of the city are on the Agbatara show discussing this topic The list comprises politicians of Ayivu, excluding other stakeholders of the city. From the outset, this presents serious limitations to this debate. This is the reason which has led to the present disagreement. At the time of bringing the whole of Ayivu into the city, the same mindset was applied: that this was an
