WHAT IS IT?

When two people decide to live together as a couple, without being legally married, we say they are cohabiting.

Although some countries recognize this arrangement and protect those cohabiting, Uganda is not one of those countries. The Ugandan laws does not care if you have been living together for a year, 40 years or all your life, it will still take it that you are merely 'FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS' (and children) who live together (Legally this is called a domestic relationship). It will not protect you the same way it protects married people.
