Today we are talking about the marriage types that can be mixed to make a legal ‘marriage katogo’. You all know Katogo. No one wants Katoogo of fish and cassava. The law is like that too.
CAN A CHURCH & ISLAMIC MARRIAGE GO TOGETHER?
No.
WHY?
A church marriage is monogamous marriage. An Islamic marriage is potentially polygamous. monogamous and Polygamous marriages cannot coexist.
A church marriage requires that the couple is of the Christian faith, while the Islamic marriage requires that the couple is Muslim if they are to be governed by the Islamic marriage law. This means that a couple cannot be part of one marriage as well as another. Both marriage require you to be bound by their religious beliefs and if you are not of that faith, you cannot be bound so you cannot wed by the one where you are not of the faith.
