Russia has Added Facebook, Instagram into Its List of “Terrorists and Extremist” Organizations, Criminalizes Anyone in Russia Found Using the Platform.
According to AFP and Russia’s Interfax news agency, the financial monitoring organisation Rosfinmonitoring has added Facebook and Instagram parent company Meta to its list of “terrorist and extremist” organisations.
After Meta was found guilty of “extremist activity” in the nation in March, a Russian court dismissed an appeal by the company in June. The claim had been refuted at the time by Meta’s attorney. As a result of this decision, no one in Russia will be allowed to access any of Meta’s services such as WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram.
