Opinion; Do not Condemn Aringa South County MP Odria Without Hearing Him - Osuta Yusuf.

Video 👇👇

Police has summoned Aringa south county MP Alioni Yorke Odria to appear before CID tomorrow Tuesday 4-October-2022 for punching ASP Ssenga Alex at Parliament.

#Opinion.

Through a viral video circulating on Social Media from the date of EALA elections 29-9-2022 at Parliament of Uganda, where the Aringa South County MP  Odria was recorded in a video punching the OC at Parliament ASP Ssenga Alex after his efforts to protest what he described as "Vote Rigging" in EALA elections were frustrated.

Much as some people condemn the MP for acting below the belt to the extent of punching the police officer, we should look at the incident on the other side too.

If only the MP wasn't provoked or frustrated to protest what he termed as illegality in EALA elections, the incident might have not blown out of proportion.

Furthermore, Hon Alioni Yorke Odria might have been overruled by emotions just like any other government official or citizen, who have anger and emotional feelings.

Therefore, blaming or judging Hon Odria Yorke for that one punch 👊 on the police officer is a typical prejudice.

As a Country, we have had many incidents where government officials or businessmen become controlled by their emotions.

One of the reference to this, is the then Uganda's Ambassador to Burundi Gen Matayo Kyaligonza who in Feb-2019 slapped a female traffic police officer Esther Namaganda for stopping his driver from making a U-turn in the middle of the road.

On 1-April-2019, the Ambassador went ahead to make errant statements describing Ugandan MPs as "Stupid" for passing a resolution on 27-2-2019 to recall Gen Kyaligonza from diplomatic services.

We have equally had ministers and security commanders who act in that direction all due to "Nature of Emotions" which we all know can rule over any Human Being at any point in life.

With these few words, i am not defending Hon Odria nor promoting such acts caused by emotional reactions, but rather trying  to entail and sought your attentions to the principles of "Natural Justice ⚖" (don't judge without hearing the other side).

DISCLAIMER; These are my views and opinions alone.

They are not in anyway affiliated with or in the interest of any politician or any party or any institution or any group or any organization in and outside Uganda.

Thanks.

UGANDA ELECTORAL COMMISSION TO ELIMINATE NATIONAL IDENTIFICATION CARDS (IDs) FOR 2021 GENERAL ELECTIONS.

The elimination of using National IDs (Ndagamuntu) for the 2021 elections should not have come as a surprise. One would be very NAIVE to think that Bobi Wine has not prepared for this in his Business Plan under the RISK section. It is public knowledge that our EC is not independent.  It is also public knowledge that Military Dictator Yoweri Museveni will never lose an election. What stunned us this morning is when we noticed that on social media, people were mocking Bobi with his "get your Ndagamuntu".  We are on record for saying to all Our readers that the National ID is like Apartheid in South Africa. Students of History would know how those IDs were being used to arrest people, deny them jobs, deny them basic services. Consequently, Bobi was not wrong and will never be wrong on the Ndagamuntu. Except the ones attacking him and mocking him forget that in Uganda, now, no National ID (Ndagamuntu), no service.  If you have not been denied registering your child i...

Parliament Urges Government to Provide Shs 4 Billion to Media Houses to Run Awareness Campaign on Tourism in Uganda.

Parliament also urged Gov’t to provide additional Shs4Bn to UTB to engage international and national media houses in production of positive media stories for improved destination image, following reports of drop in number of tourists from US, Europe and China visiting Uganda. "The National Development Plan targeted to cumulatively attract 281,760 International Tourist arrivals from US, Europe & China but only 67,252 arrivals were registered by the end of the first half of FY 2023/24. The U.S, Europe & China were key target source for leisure tourist who stay longer than business tourists. However, statistics show that international arrivals from the aforementioned areas have continue to drop. The UTB requires Shs4Bn to engage international & national media houses in production of positive tourism stories to improve destination perception in light of recent controversies that shade the destination in a bad light. However, this has remained unfunded,” said La...
