In a Thursday 13-10-2022 meeting held at Social Center, the District leaders of Arua, Deputy RDC Ezama Ham, LC5 Chairman Hon Alfred Okuonzi, CAO Judy Bukenya among other leaders, have launched operations of CEHURD, a none profit organisation with its mission in ending stigma against people with HIV and Tuberculosis (TB) in Uganda.
CEHURD is expected to recruit over 20 Youths in Arua District (Vurra Constituency) to carry out a data collection on HIV / TB patients and what they go through in their daily lives.
The Chief Administrative Officer for Arua District, Mrs Jude Bukenya in her speech praised CEHURD for organizing such a Score card parameter on HIV / TB infections and stigmatization.
She said, data collection on such pertinent issues, is very key and needs qualified people in the various fields of technology or health, depending on the department in which such a data collection is under.
Mrs Bukenya castigated some Government officials and politicians for always bringing in their relatives to fill in such positions of data collection yet they may not be qualified to undertake such tasks.
We are hoping for the best for Arua District and Uganda, she concluded.
The LC V Chairman of the District, Hon Alfred Okuonzi hailed Mr Peter CEHURD representative who organized the meeting, Deputy RDC Ham Muzamil Ezama, DHO Arua District, Arua City DPC, OC station Vurra Sub-county police station, CISO, CFO Arua District, CAO Arua District and other District officials, for being present to support Arua District in hoping for the best.
There is no magic bullet that can arrest the situation on ground, that is why we have been looking for partners to be our backups, Hon Okuonzi praised the officials and NGO.
The LC5 Chairman emphasized the need for quality services for our people, which he said, is gonna make all of us and everyone happy and that is why score card (a management tool) is here.
Talking on the history of Score cards, Hon Okuonzi said, Score card was initiated in 1992.
He reiterated on the type / quality of data being collected.
If we want quality data for informed decisions, the data collectors must first all have confidence in the data they are collecting, the LC V Chairman advised the various stakeholders in the meeting.
He appealed to CEHURD to identify people with capabilities of mastering what they are collecting.
The Deputy RDC Mr Ezama Ham in his speech, appreciated CEHURD for its focus on health.
Mr Ham stressed the need for engaging people to address challenges instead of pinching them.
In his speech, the Deputy RDC cautioned CEHURD to focus on results of its projects, however huge or little fundings they may be getting, they should be result based.
He tasked the NGO to implement their obligations and warned them not to skip any of them, saying, as the office of the RDC, they are monitoring them.
Citing some incidents in some Districts where District officials refuse to share documents and information with other officials, the Deputy RDC urged the organisation to be open with them in document / information sharing in case of any mistake done.
He also emphasized the need for unity in Arua District.
