WHO PROTECTS TENANTS FROM 'BAFERE' LANDLORDS ?.

Yesterday, we told you about the legal requirement to prove who you are to your landlord before taking up a house as a tenant. 

With all the 'bafere' who wear Kanzu and pretend to be landlords to steal your money, do you think it is fair only to ask the tenant to share proof of who they are and not the landlords? 

While we wait for the law to catch up, here are a few tips for surviving these 'bafere'.
Never carry money when you check out a rental you want.

2. Ask for proof of who the landlord is. It may not be a legal requirement, but it is your money, so don't be a 'fool'. (a fool and their money are soon parted)

3. Ask the other tenants how and to who they pay their rent. Come back later and check with the tenants if they know the people claiming to own the houses you want to rent. 

4. Move with a friend or someone, so you can get their thoughts and avoid being 'ambushed'.

5. Insist on paying on an account, so you have a way to trace your money and who received it.
