Health is Wealth; Hon Jennifer Driwaru Concludes Distribution of Baby Coats in 17 Health Centers in Maracha District, Warns Against Segregation.
Extracts 👇👇 from her Social Media Page.
I am grateful for successfully concluding distribution of Baby Coats within two days across all the Health Centers in Maracha District.
The exercise that began on 4-July-2022 at Oleba Healther Center III and ended yesterday 5-July-2022 at Kijomoro Health Center III is aimed at fostering Mother-baby health during delivery process.
With thorough analysis and gathering of information through our health workers, i was informed that, some mothers fear to go and deliver at the health centers just because most of them lack such pertinent items to be used at the point of delivery, henceforth, they opt to be delivered in the villages by Traditional Birth Attendants (TBA) who have higher risks of causing complications in Birth.
I had earlier on written a letter to Ministry of Health regarding this challenge our mothers are facing!
However, i thought of doing something to save the situation no matter how little it may be, since most government programs take time to get feedbacks.
1. Sustainability.
Many of the concerned Nurses and Midwives asked me about the sustainability of these Baby Coats, to which, i affirmed to ensure the Baby Coats should always remain available in all the Health facilities and i tasked the Village Health Teams (VHTs) to update me so that i can send top ups.
2. Segregation and Nepotism.
I also assured the Nurses, Midwives and VHTs not to be segregative when giving out the Baby Coats to our mothers!
Whether the person voted for me in 14-1-2021generalelections or not, whether the person is from Maracha or a Foreigner, they "Must" all benefit from the Baby Coats.
3. Birth at Health Centers.
The third concern which i addressed and i believe can promote maternal Birth at Health Centers, is through ensuring only those who give birth at the health facilities will be eligible to receive the Baby Coats.
4. Not for Sale.
The Baby Coats i bought and donated are not for sale.
Neither health workers nor my supporters are allowed to take charge and sale the Baby Coats to our expectant mothers in the District.
Thank you the people of Maracha District.
Thank you the government of Uganda.
Thank you NRM party.
I do all these, For God and My Country.
