GEN MUHOOZI KAINERUGABA COMMISSIONS VOICE OF MADI FM AND CAUTIONS ON DOMESTIC VIOLENCE IN WEST NILE.
The commander of land forces Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has officially commissioned Voice of Madi radio in Ogoko village in Madi Okollo District set up by Hon Joanne Okia Aniku, woman Member of Parliament, to facilitate the social economic transformation agenda of the government through sensitization programs aimed at uplifting the livelihoods of the people.
In a colorful ceremony held at Inde Technical School attended by Members of Parliament led by Hon Atima Jackson Lee Buti, Arua Central Division and Government Regional Whip for West Nile, Hon Leku Joel of Terego West, Hon Ayaka Rose Atima former MP Maracha District, Hon Okumu Gabriel Okoro county, Hon Afdira Ronald-Lower Madi, Hon Etuka Isaac- Upper Madi, Hon Feta Geofrey- Ayivu East, Hon Paparu Lillian Arua District, Hon Grace Kwiyucwiny minister for northern Uganda, Mr Toko Swaibu RDC Madi Okollo, Ms Alice Akello RCC Arua City and other security chiefs and district local government officials
Gen Muhoozi was accompanied by his wife Charlotte Kainerugaba and others, who landed in Madi at half past midday expressed his happiness for the establishment of the radio by Hon Joanne, which will go along way in sensitizing the communities on development programs for economic transformation.
He has rooted full involvement and participation of all stakeholders in Parish Development Model to uplift the 39% of the population in subsistence economy through radio mobilization for positive mindset for better livelihoods
' Am extremely happy with the people of West Nile for the support to His Excellency President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni over the years and government, together with Uganda People's Defense Forces (UPDF). I encourage you to utilize the peace ushered in by the government to transform your communities, by engaging in trade and commerical agriculture' noted Gen Muhoozi
President Museveni has extended thirty millions shillings (30 millions) to Inde Technical School for equipment to enable it prepare the young generations with skills, that can help them as the industrial area takes shape.
' I want to caution my fellow men against domestic violence, as me and my wife we have been married for over 23 years, but I have never even touched her. But reports from West Nile on domestic violence are very disturbing especially in Madi Okollo, therefore I urge you to avoid it, in case you feel angered, kindly find another room to reflect and cool down, you need to devote that anger to productivity' he asserted
Madi Okollo which was under greater Arua has undergone transformation since it got the district status with new headquarters in Inde town council, and taking shape in different aspects.
Gen Muhoozi has appealed to the people of Madi Okollo to foster unity, love for their country and educate their children especially the girl child.
' I want you to do everything in your means to take our children to school especially girls to equip them with knowledge and skills, so as to give them a better platform to compete with others in the world, they are our daughters, sisters and mothers of tomorrow, who need support by the parents and community for their personal transformation' noted Muhoozi
Mrs Charlotte Kainerugaba appreciated the people of Madi Okollo for the warm welcome extended to them and for a wonderful sister in Joanne, she is so special to me and many others. ' She is a person, who can make you believe anything is possible, she always assures us that with dedication, focus and determination any dream can be achieved' stressed Mrs Kainerugaba
Dr Joseph Okia the husband to Hon Joanne Okia was so excited by the milestone of the first radio station in the district, appreciated his in-laws for having nurtured the daughter very well, disciplined, committed and dedicated to family and service of her people. He introduced to Gen Muhoozi his army in West Nile headed by Hon Atima Jackson, which is very ready for any deployment to the grassroots, he thanked the army for the mobilization and dedication.
Hon Joanne Okia expressed her appreciation to Gen Muhoozi for honoring her invitation to Madi Okollo to grace the official commissioning of the radio initiative.
' Gen we prayed for our district at the beginning of this year based on Isaiah 62: Isaiah 62 " For Zion's sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem's sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth. And the Gentiles shall see thy righteousness, and all kings thy glory: and thou shalt be called by a new name, which the mouth of the Lord shall name. Thou shalt also be a crown of glory in the hand of the Lord, and a royal diadem in the hand of thy God. Thou shalt no more be termed Forsaken; neither shall thy land any more be termed Desolate: but thou shalt be called Hephzibah, and thy land Beulah: for the Lord delighteth in thee, and thy land shall be married".
In fact looking back we were always treated as rejects, but now God has blessed us as City of God's Delight that is Madi Okollo.
Hon Grace Kwiyucwiny minister for northern Uganda called upon the people of Madi Okollo and West Nile to fight poverty in their homesteads through production
The chairperson Madi Okollo District Mr Drabe Ismail Adirisi appealed to Gen Muhoozi to add his voice on that of theirs to ensure government plans for Ocoko- Inde - Pakwach road in the 2023/24 budget, a short route to Arua with only 115 km. While the Resident District Commissioner for Madi Okollo Mr Toko Swaibu urged the operators of the radio use it positively to empower the citizens to transform their livelihoods.
The people of Madi Okollo appreciated Gen Muhoozi for blessing them with the visit and the elders gave him a goat to take home.
