HON AYAKA ROSE, UPDF COMMANDER AND MARACHA DISTRICT DPC TODAY HELD A MEETING TO BOOST VIGILANTIC BOUNDARY SURVEILLANCE.
As Uganda intensifies it's COVID19 fight amidst spiking numbers especially in border districts, Hon Ayaka Rose together with UPDF and Uganda Police have today reenforced the border surveillance between Uganda and DRC. In a scientific meeting held at Malaba trading centre with the local leaders attended by ASP Hassan Hiwumbire, Maracha District Police Commander and Major Okello, commandant of Kampala detach of UDPF have resolved to intensify surveillance over the porous borders, that are aiding illicit trade and likelihood of spreading of corona virus.
Hon Ayaka called on people especially the local leaders to work closely with the security to address the challenges posed by free movements by our brothers and sisters across the border. " We as your leaders have an obligation to save you diligently and ensure that you are safe, healthy all the times, but you also have to cooperate" she noted.
She has pledged to purchase a temperature gun for Malaba Trading Centre to help in the fight against COVID19, as well as train the person who will be handling it. This comes after residents raised concerns over relatives and people coming from other districts.
ASP Hassan the DPC on behalf of security assured maximum cooperation and good working working relations from all the security agencies. "We are your servants and always use us freely, our services are for free and in case of any challenge reach out to us anytime" he noted.
Mr Yobo Peter, chairman Malaba Trading Centre thanked Hon Ayaka for always responding effectively and timely whenever they reach out to her despite the busy schedule, and the DPC for acting promptly whenever called, and UPDF for reinforcing security deployment along the border. "We appeal to the leadership of district and government to get us an additional patrol vehicle to help the security forces effectively patrol the border in the fight against COVID19"
Major Okello, the commandant of Kampala detach assured people of Malaba full support from UPDF.
