DPC, LCV AND UPDF COMMANDANT MAJ OKELLO JOINS HON AYAKA ROSE IN HOSTING EIGHT PARLIAMENTARY COMMITTEE MPs ON FOREIGN AFFAIRS, AS THEY DIALOGUE ON BOARDER CONFLICTS, DONATES 500,000 SHs TO NEW WOMEN SACCO IN OLUFFE SUB-COUNTY.


As Uganda harmonises relations with its neighbors, after a series of violent crashes amongst the border communities today Hon Ayaka Rose Woman MP for Maracha District has hosted the committee led by their chair Hon Hood Katuramu at Osidribiku border town where they interfaced with the community scientifically.

The community meeting was attended by Chairperson LCV Mr Adiga Lawrence, Mr Eyotre Pontious, chair of Oluffe Sub county, ASP Hassan DPC of Maracha, Major Okello commandant of UPDF in Maracha, DISO and other eminent leaders from the district. 

The Committee members included Hon Connie Galiwango, MP Mbale District, Hon Akurut Violet Adome, MP Katakwi District and vice chairperson, Hon Haji Latif Ssebagala,MP Kawempe North, Hon Masika Apollo MP Bubulo East, Hon Hashim Sulaiman, MP Nebbi Municipality, Hon Oduchu Fred, MP Butebo County, Hon Judith Alyek, MP Kole District and Hon Angella Fred, MP Moroto Municipality.

Hon Ayaka highlighted the challenges of her border community which include mistreatment of Ugandans when they cross to Congo, always arrested and tortured, lack of gazetted market for trade, border road of 38.6km which needs to be taken over by central government, school children who are across the border, shared health services with relatives across, as well as inter border religious connections. Mr Adiga Lawrence thanked Hon Ayaka on behalf of the district for always lobbying for her people as an MP and pledged his full support for her. 
Hon Katuramu assured the people of Maracha District along the border of their full support as the committee and will engage with government to ensure that their concerns are worked on, such as the construction of a border market, government take over of the road and establishment of an immigration centre or official entry point. He praised the great job done by our security forces UPDF and Police. 'In a special way we have to thank you people of Maracha for the gift of Hon Ayaka Rose as your MP, she is a blessing to all of us as a country and very useful' he noted 
He highlighted the urgent need for harmonized trade relations to enable our people do business freely and legally without us promoting illicit trade, that affects us in terms of revenue and enforcement.
The committee contributed five hundred thousand (500,000/=) to the newly formed SACCO by Hon Ayaka for only women in Oluffe Sub county, where they will have access to cheap revolving funds to enable them take care of their home needs. 
Mr Eyotre Pontious the chair Oluffe, urged the area MP to continue lobbying for more including an ambulance and more funding for both the education and health sectors.
The committee also paid a courtesy visit to Hon Alex Onzima at his home in Oluvu, where they paid respect for his fallen mother Roza Muna who died at 99 years of age,and a strong advocate for education and equal opportunities for all children. 
The committee later had an interface with Arua district leadership and visited Vurra border custom to asses the relationship between the two communities.

UGANDA ELECTORAL COMMISSION TO ELIMINATE NATIONAL IDENTIFICATION CARDS (IDs) FOR 2021 GENERAL ELECTIONS.

The elimination of using National IDs (Ndagamuntu) for the 2021 elections should not have come as a surprise.
