“Kyomutungi wayata”(you are such a loss)! Kyomu has heard these words repeatedly since she announced to her family that she would raise her two children alone after her boyfriend abandoned her. Her boyfriend, Aine, has been beating her since she started dating him. After she got pregnant, she hoped that the beating would stop, but it only got wors. Still, she persisted because she knew the shame that comes with being a single parent in her society. Last month, Aine disappeared without saying anything and now Kyomu has heard that he has another family. She has been facing judgement and people are blaming her for Aine leaving her and saying that she is the reason her children are going to grow up without a father.
