Tax Payers Continue to Suffer on the Road as Traffic Police Officers Intensify Arresting Buses at Night Over Route Chart.
Following stakeholders engagement meeting which ended with vast misunderstanding between Transporters / Bus Owners in Uganda and Ministry of Works and Transport, to resolve the way forward on route chart, collection of loading and offloading dues, California Bus Services Arua and Nile Star bus have yet again become one of the latest victims to the lacuna after their Buses have this night 10pm 11-Jan-2023 been intercepted by traffic police officers.
According to information obtained, the management of California Bus Services whose bus has been intercepted this night 10pm by police at Matuga, had earlier on submitted vehicle registration number UBB 538K as the vehicle that is supposed to carry passengers from Kampala with departure at 9:30pm, reaching to Karuma at 12:30am, Nebbi at 3:30am and arrival in Arua at 6:00am as drafted on the route chart a copy of which this online publication team has seen.
But due to a typing error done by Ministry’s Transporting Licensing Board (TLB) who are responsible for receiving and dispatching the Route Charts, 9:30am was typed instead of 9:30pm, which has resulted into arrest of the bus.
In another information gathered this night, one of the buses belonging to Nile Star Bus Company Ltd whose number plate details haven’t been verified, has also been intercepted this night by traffic police officers over same challenges relating to route chart.
