Management of California Bus Services Arua Apologizes to Customers Over Inconvenience Caused by Traffic Police Officers at Luwero.
During a communication this online publication blog team had this evening with the CEO of California bus company, the management has apologized to the passengers who boarded this morning 9:00am 10-Jan-2023 bus registration number UAY 649C from Arua enroute to Kampala and they were stopped by Traffic Police officers at Luwero over Route Chart.
The CEO Mr Embati Saverino said, bus companies in Uganda basically pay for two obligations, and that is; PSV fees and provisional income tax which are all paid annually but the third obligation is now the route chart which is perhaps free but government wants to charge it at a fee, that is why those passengers were stopped this afternoon 3pm and delayed for four hours at Luwero before the bus was later on allowed to proceed with the journey to Kampala.
He said, Ministry of Works and Transport one week ago held meeting with them the Bus operators / Transporters in Uganda but a sharp misunderstanding ensued in the meeting because the Ministry wants to charge for route chart and also wants collection of dues on loading and offloading of cargos be handled by the ministry, opposed to the previous policy which permitted Local Governments to collect the dues.
On behalf of the management, Mr Embati has therefore apologized to the passengers and entire customers of California bus company over the inconvenience that was caused by the stop over over the bus earlier today 10-January-2023, adding that, the Bus operators / Transporters in Uganda will properly hold a meeting to address these challenges.
