Hon Alfred Okuonzi Rallies for Industrial Institute for Greater Arua and Startup Capital for Vocational Institue Gradutes.
The LC5 Chairman for Arua District, Hon Alfred Okuonzi has on 4-Jan-2023 echoed a need to have an industrial Institute established at greater Arua to serve the people of Arua District, Maracha District, Ayivu East / West, Terego District, Obongi District and Arua City.
The vocal LC5 Chairman made the remarks at Zeu, Zombo District during the first graduation ceremony of Students at WestNile Presidential Initiative Institute for Skilling the Youths.
His submission was backed up by evidence on numbers, where he said, Adjumani District hosts similar Presidential Initiative Institute for skilling the Youths but it only serves students from five (5) Districts in that region and yet that region and WestNile region are given the same slots for students to join the trainings.
In the last intake that just ended in December last year 2022, total of 440 slots were given for the two Institutes, one in Zombo District which is serving 8 Districts, admitted 220 students and another in Adjumani District which is serving 5 Districts, also admitted 220 students.
The LC5 Chairman thanked the Commander-in-Chief HIS Excellence President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for thinking about Young people who dropped out of school due to school fees related challenges and had no skills in any field.

Hon Alfred Okuonzi's request was seconded by Ayivu East Constituency MP Hon Feta Geoffrey, who said, greater Arua urgently needs its own Institute to serve the intended purpose to avoid congestion and delays in the hub of skilling Youths who had dropped out of School.
The LC5 Chairman Hon Okuonzi also appealed to the government to offer some money as startup capital for the graduates, a request which was heeded to and all the 220 graduates 🎓 were given 100,000 Shs each as start up capital.
