Mob at Kibuye Roundabout Killed a Boda Boda Rider Who Used Knife to Stab a Police Constable in the Stomach and Chest, Leaving him in Critical Condition.
The territorial police of Katwe are investigating cases of attempted murder and murder that took place yesterday 11/6/2021 at 20:30hrs.
It is alleged that No. 37947 Police Constable Menjah Ismail while on duty enforcing guidelines on curfew, he impounded a motorcycle registration number UDM 272M at Kibuye roundabout.
It is alleged that the rider turned violent and stabbed the officer several times in the stomach and chest near the lungs.
The officer sustained more injuries on the elbow, collar bone and in the neck.
A civilian only identified as Masuddi sustained injuries on the hand as he was rescuing PC Menjah.
PC Menjah was rushed to Malcom Medical Centre where he got first aid.
Later, he was referred to Iran-Ugandan Hospital at Naguru for advanced medical treatment.
The police responded at the scene after rushing the colleague to Malcom but found that the rider, who had escaped from the scene was cornered by the community and beaten.
The suspect later succumbed to the injuries sustained during mob justice.
A team of officers later visited the scene.
Statements were recorded and knife allegedly used to stab PC Menjah was recovered and exhibited.
The body of the deceased rider was later taken to Kampala Capital City Authority mortuary at Mulago for a postmortem.
PC Menjah is undergoing treatment but still in a critical condition, said Asp Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy PRO KMP.
