The Populous in Bukedi Sub-region Do Not Have Shoes - According to Statistics.

Wearing shoes in Bukedi sub-region is almost a luxury. In the districts of Butaleja and Tororo, the majority of the population uses sandals and gumboots even during public occasions.

This, as the 2020 Uganda Bureau of Statistics report indicates that the Eastern region where Bukedi falls has few people owning shoes with only 50% of the population capable of owning a pair. The leaders in the sub-region blame it on the biting poverty.
