Politics of Words, Divide and Rule; Kijomoro Businessman Pledges to Buy Three Laud Speakers to be Placed Across Maracha for Announcing Every Plenary Session in Uganda Parliament.
People in Maracha are now holding their Members of Parliament to account principally as law-making role and ability to oversee the development in Maracha.
Today Africa News went to Maracha district getting views of some people about the parliamentary performance of the Members of Parliament.
In the assessment, most voters in Maracha were not happy with the performance of some MPs lamenting that their performance has not been satisfactory when it comes to the real duty of parliament.
“I follow parliamentary proceedings regularly but I have not seen any of our MPs participating effectively like other MPs”, Rofino from Paranga said.
Milika Munduru from Oluvu: ” From the beginning we thought we were electing good performing representatives who will speak for Maracha in the parliament but their performance has not satisfied us”.
According to her, she has not heard some of the MPs on the floor of parliament. struggling to speak like other MPs are doing.
Most voters contacted by Today Africa news, said they will give red cards to poor performing MPs soon for their poor performance in parliament but cautioned them to pull up their socks by improving on their performance by fully participating actively in the proceedings of the parliament and represent Maracha like other MPs are representing their constituencies.
One who only identified himself as Draleku from Yivu Sub/county without specific mentioning said some of the Maracha MPs open their mouths to speak during their swearing when they took words of oath but after that almost a year he has not heard them speaking in the parliament.
A prominent business man from Kijomoro said he is going to buy three big public laud speakers which will be put at Okokoro, Ovujo, Nyadri Market, Oleba trading centre, Malaba and one at Osidribiku for announcing parliamentary proceedings where people will be able to know whether Maracha MPs are speaking in parliament.
But Mansur from Alikua is humbly asking the MPs to pull up their socks and do what people expect from them otherwise the move to recall them back is not far.
” Yes am humbly asking them to learn to improve their performance as possible as quickly now before signatures are collected to withdraw them from the parliament”, he threatens.
He said Maracha wants honest representatives like Acidri and Oguzu who can legislate and serve the people of Maracha.
