Today Mama Goloba’s maid was supposed to be returning from the village. Before leaving, Mama Goloba paid the maid all her money and even did Christmas shopping for her family. So she was disappointed when she called, and the maid told her that she had decided to stay in the village and get married. Mama Goloba wants to know if she can sue the maid because she was supposed to work for another two years.
THE LAW SAYS:
By law, a housemaid is also an employee, and you who employ this maid are an employer. This means that as an employee, the maid has the same rights as any other employee. For example, they are entitled to annual leave. They are also allowed to end the employment relationship when they get tired of being employed.
This means you do not have the right to sue your maid for quitting because it is not convenient for you. And it is also illegal to deduct their pay because you did not like how they quit.
