A 24-year-old female trainee pilot rescued by locals after the aircraft she was flying crash-landed in a swamp in Pallisa District - Uganda.
Statement on the crash landing incident in Pallisa District
The Police in Pallisa, is actively investigating an aircraft accident, which occurred on the 15.12.2021, at around 8.30am, at Nyakiwa swamp, Ochulia village, Opete parish, Obutete subcounty, in Pallisa District.
The Aircraft that belongs to the East African Aviation school, was on a school flight program, by Mercy Mulayi, a 24-year-old, cadet pilot, who was forced to make a crash landing in the swamp. She suffered serious injuries as a result of the accident and was evaluated to the Pallisa General Hospital for medical attention. She's out of danger and we wish her a quick recovery.
The exact cause of the accident is not yet established, but a joint team of experts from the Ministry of Works and Transport, Civil Aviation Authority, The Flying school and the Police, are thoroughly documenting the scene and verifying more details, that will be shared.
