Maracha district stakeholders together with community members have warmly welcomed a move by PHASE COMMUNITY FIRST to support the most volunarable community members with food items.

PHASE COMMUNITY FIRST, an organisation established way back 2014 in the horn of Africa, Somalia and overtime expanded operation to other countries like Kenya, Ethiopia and now Uganda with first pilot program in maracha district.
The project was initially designed to help moselim community but with continued advocacy of leaders for inclusion of all the needy, the organization deemed it necessary to offer services regardless of the religious affiliations.
The organization has set off her activities in maracha district by holding inception meetings with stakeholders .
During a meeting held on Friday at salama guest house which was amongst others attended by lc3 chairpersons , CDOs, the religious leaders, office of lcv ,District police commander, they were briefed that the organization will support the most volunarable with food packages such as Rice, maize floor, sugar and cooking oil.
The assorted items are expected to be delivered for distribution after signing fives years memorandum of understanding with the district.
In the beginning phase , the programe targets to identify and benefits at least 45 most volunarable people from all administrative units in maracha east constituency.
The key target volunarable catergories include needy pregnant and lactating mothers, elderly, sickly and the orphans.
Mr, aduma Justus Yero ,a director and also technical program manager with PHASE organization explans that ,task to identify of the volunarable group has been given to the religious leaders who shall team up with area lc3 chairperson and program supervisors.

“So these religious leaders will help us to identify volunarables in the community and their names will be approved the lc3 chairpersons to verify if they are true residents”. Justus explained.
He said this is to ensure transparency on the selection process.

The initiative was with open hands welcomed by the stakeholders who said it has come timely to partner and supplement efforts of government in rendering services to locals sighting Inadequate number of NGOs in supporting development of the district.
Rev,Albert Arimbia, the parish priest of maracha town parish remained appreciative for the intervention of PHASE.
“I want to thank God and management of this organization because there are really very few NGOs in the district,and its opportunity for the most needy.”
About the selection task given to the clergy, Rev Albert said they will diligently perform the role.
“Surely we know these people because we do home to home visit and a times as a church we organize and help them amidst little resources” He said.
Mr Jimmy oraku abirionzia ,the chairperson for the association of lc3 chairpersons who is also for Nyadri south was equally delighted about the interventions.

“I have no problem with who this program will benefit since task for beneficiary selection is given to the clergy for those who shall be identified are the sphards , my subcounty borders maracha constinuecy and if one of them is selection from that side it’s not a problem”, said Jimmy.
Abrionzia is also hopeful that the other component of the project which include environmental management and providin clean water will be help to the population.
Abas Allah, the deputy khard maracha town is hopeful that the program will greatly transform livelihood of the volunarable amongst the community
He expressed readiness to transparently handle beneficiary selection.
Allahi further uplauds the organization for extending charity to other religious denominations in their program redesigning.
“Am grateful that othe religions have been considered to benefit from this program without segregations and this will build spirit of togetherness”. Abash lauded.
Maracha district vice Chairperson Mr Bosco Asea who on behalf of the district pledges to ensure sense of belonging for the NGO praised Mr Justus aduma for being son of soil with heart for humanity and his people.
“When we have an opportunity like this,as leaders we intend to grab with open hands,he gave us background of this NGO and used his good relationship to ensure that the people from his home district benefit from this” Asea remarks with smiling face.
