Unless You Update Your Softwares, WhatsApp Will Stop Working on Older Phones Running Android 4.0 and iOS 9.0.
A new update to WhatsApp will see the app pull support for thousands of different handsets, meaning many people could be about to lose access to their messages, photos, and contacts on the encrypted messaging app.
If you've responsibly cared for the same handset for years, it might be time to upgrade or update as tech companies seem keen to move people onto the latest kit.
43 popular smartphones, including Android and iPhone, will be unable to send messages and pictures or make videocalls on WhatsApp starting today.
Any phone with Android 4.0.4 or earlier, or any iPhone with iOS 9, will lose out on WhatsApp access.
Some of these phones are over ten years old, with Android 4 first released in 2011.

Social media Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp have been affected by a global outage for nearly 24 hours on March 14, 2019 cutting virtual worlds to nearly 2.3 billion potential users. Facebook has explained the causes of malfunctions that have disrupted its networks in recent days. This failure is due to the "server configuration change" that has caused cascading problems Facebook is excused for the inconvenience caused to users and companies that are dependent on Facebook, Instagram or WhatsApp to run their business.
The list of phones that will lose access include:
Sony Xperia
LG Optimus F7, F5, L3 II Dual, F7 II, F5 II
Huawei Ascend Mate and Ascend D2
Apple iPhone SE, 6S, and 6S Plus
Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini, Trend II, Trend Lite, Core, Ace 2
However, Apple have come to the rescue by offering a free update to the latest iOS 15 for those iPhone 6 owners affected by the change—so if you update your software today, you should be fine. Owners of earlier iPhone models may not be so lucky.
Update your phone software as soon as possible to avoid losing out.
If you want to ensure access to WhatsApp and other major apps, it's vital to keep your phone up-to-date by going into your phone settings and selecting any available software updates.
WhatsApp is adding a ton of new features for newer phones this year, including a 'control bar', iPhone-to-Android chat transfer, and even redesigned voice notes. It will also soon let you make 'joinable' group voice chats on its platform.
