WHAT IS MINIMUM PAY ?.

The law required that when you work for someone, you are paid a decent amount of money for the work you have done. In some countries there is a minimum amount of money you must pay anyone who works for you which is known as minimum wage or pay. Minimum pay or wage means the least amount of money someone who is employed can earn. In some countries, the employment law states a minimum amount of money you can pay an employee. You cannot agree to pay a person less than the minimum wage, but you may agree to pay more, as paying less defeats the purpose of putting in place a minimum wage which is to protect employees from low pay. In Uganda, we currently do not have a minimum pay set in the law, however there is a bill in parliament discussing the same. When it comes to gig workers or self employed people who are hired to do particular work for others, the employment laws do not apply to them. In countries where there is a minimum pay set in the law, this is used as a basis to negotiate how much you may be paid for work being done. In Uganda, the person giving you the gig is required to pay you basing on the work you have done but your negotiation skills are very important so that you do not feel used. : Unsplash
