As our commitment to inform the uninformed, we are taking you this time to Obongi District to explore and bring to you the two years achievements of the Woman MP Hon Maneno Zumura.
Born on 12-February-1988 at Odonga west village, Odonga parish, Aliba sub-county in the current Obongi District, Hon Maneno got elected as Woman MP of the District on National Resistance Movement (NRM) Party ticket on thursday 14-1-2021 after garnering 3,868 votes, followed by Joyo Harriet (Independent) garnered 3,122 votes, Ataya Suraya (Independent) garnered 2,696 votes, Edea Joyce Kupajo (FDC) garnered 2,173 votes and lastly Ayike Rehema Bale (Independent) garnered 776 votes.
Hon Maneno Zumura who was sworn on 19-5-2021 has registered several other noticeable achievements in Obongi District besides her Legislation, Budget and Oversight roles in Parliament of Uganda as required by the law.
1. She supported health care system through supply and installation of solar panels in Malanga health centre II in Ewafa Sub-county, Obongi Constituency, Obongi District.
2. To promote savings culture, she gave cash monies to all the village savings groups in Obongi district.
3. Being a staunch NRM party member, she funded National Resistance Movement (NRM) party activities by organizing NRM delegates conference and facilitating annual 26th January NRM Party day celebrations in Obongi District.
4. Young-energetic Hon Maneno Zumura being a resourceful person, she successfully lobbied for a total of 40 beds from Ministry of Health and distributed them to health centers in the district.
5. Having being raised by a mother and also having that experience of being a mother, Hon Maneno Zumura bought utensils and donated them to all the women in Obongi District.
6. To show them all hope is not lost, she empowered the vulnerable women in the district with both cash monies as capital and also offered them financial literacy trainings.
7. She lobbied for maize seedlings and distributed them to all the farmers to boost food security in the district.
8. As the proverb goes, “God First”, the Woman MP supported the churches and mosques in Obongi district by donating cements for construction.
9. Lastly but not least, Hon Maneno lobbied for water project worth 400 million shillings from None Governmental Organization.
