If i get a lady and i bring her to be my wife without officially paying dowry, then it happens that she dies in my house,is it legal for her parents to make me pay dowry even when she's dead?? is it in order???.
No, it is against the law for anyone to demand dowry for a dead body. This is because marriage can only be between people who are alive to fulfil the many requirements that make a marriage valid in law. Consent from the couple. A dead person cannot give their consent to the marriage therefore the living ‘husband’ would be waiting foreeeeever for an ‘I Do’ from a corpse. It does not even matter that there had been plans to marry before the person died once a person is dead, that person cannot be joined to a living person because they cannot say yes.
Marriages must be consummated for a marriage to be considered valid, the couple must have ‘s3x’. If this has not happened, the law allows any of them to ask for the marriage to be invalidated (cancelled in law). The law cannot allow you to start ‘sleeping’ with a corpse. This amounts to disturbing the peace of the dead since the dead must ‘rest in peace’ and not be involved in marital rituals. This is also an offence that falls under acts against the order of nature and can land you a serious prison sentence.
