"We Are Sorry", URA Apologises to the People of Westnile Region Over the Continued Shooting / Killing of Civilians / Taxpayers by the URA Tax Enforcement Soldiers.
Uganda Revenue Authority, Assistant Commissioner for Customs and Enforcement has apologized to the people of West Nile for the incidents that have lead to the loss of lives during the pursuit of smuggled goods and the people involved.
' I am very sorry for all the incidents that have happened, for and on behalf of the tax body and the forces involved in the enforcement, please forgive us, we can't replace lives and it's very unfortunate, we are inventing new ways of working with our people ' he noted.
This was in a meeting held with leaders who included Hon Atima Jackson, Arua MP Central and regional government whip, Hon Paparu Lillian MP Arua District, City Mayor Sam Nyakua Wadri, Ms Alice Akello Resident City Commissioner of Arua City, Mr Oya Nahor RDC Arua District, Mr Okuonzi Alfred Chairman LCV Arua District, Col Gideon Kattinda in charge security at URA, Col Jackson Kayanja 409 Brigade Commander and the District Police Commander of Arua.
Hon Atima stressed the need for Uganda Revenue Authority to build a good working environment with the people and always engage them positivity, and as leaders they will only support when the agency is doing good. He rallied them to do their work deligently, know that the people they harass are their bosses, without them paying taxes, they have no work and government can't provide services.
