A police patrol came this morning and picked up ‘Jah-key’ after she put Mathew on her social media to thank him for her valentines day gifts. It turns out that Mathew is married, and his wife is not amused, especially because she did not get anything. So the police officer says that Jah-key has been arrested because she is a ‘side chic’ and spoiling the main chic’s marriage. Jah-key wants to know if it is illegal to be a side chic.
THE LAW SAYS.
Adultery is no longer a criminal offence. However, this should not be your excuse to sleep around with married people. This is because although adultery is no longer a criminal offence, it is still a matrimonial offence and it is grounds for divorce. If you are the ‘side chic or guy,’ you may be sued for ‘breaking’ someone’s marriage, especially when that spouse is being sued for divorce.
In addition to this, the offence of elopement is still real. Elopement under the Ugandan law is not when a man and woman run away to be secretly married as popularly known. Elopement under the Ugandan law is when a man or woman entices a married person from their marriage. It happens when a married person leaves their spouse for either an unmarried or a married partner.
