Seventeen NRM Secretariat Staff Put Under Quarantine after Two of Them Tested Positive for Coronavirus.

The Secretariat of the ruling political party, National Resistance Movement (NRM), has Wednesday evening placed two of their their key staff under isolation and 17 others in institutional quarantine in a bid to prevent further spread of coronavirus.
Without providing particulars, the ruling party Secretary General Justine Kasule Lumumba earlier on Wednesday revealed that two key staff members of the Secretariat had tested positive for the virus.
“This morning, two of our key staff at the National Resistance Movement – NRM Party Secretariat tested positive for COVID-19 and have been admitted to the Hospital for proper care,” Lumumba said in a statement.
The Secretariat management team would thereafter convene an urgent meeting with the National Incident Management Team headed by Dr. Monica Musenero to forge a way forward, according to Emmanuel Lumala Dombo, the Secretariat’s Director for information, Publicity and Public Relations.
“After a thorough analysis of the risk and exposure of the members of this office, 2 staff who were confirmed positive have been taken under isolation and 17 others designated as high risks have been put under institutional quarantine for 14 days,” says Dombo in a statement.
He said starting tomorrow, Thursday, strict observance of the SOPs will be a heightened in order to minimise exposure and risk.
He adds that the entire premises of the Secretariat will be disinfected this Wednesday evening before they are used and all staff that didnt test on Monday this week will undergo a Covid-19 test tomorrow Thursday at the Secretariat.
According to Dombo, all the Secretariat Staff who were earlier tested will have to repeat the test after one week.
Uganda’s cumulative cases of CIVID-19 are currently 1,140 with 1,028 recoveries and two registered deaths.
