How i Lost Hope in National ID.

https://theinformersdotcom.wordpress.com/2021/12/19/how-i-lost-hope-in-national-id/ It was during the chaotic 2018 Arua Municipality MP by-election period when i lost my national ID. All my efforts to trace it were futile! I lost interest in recovering it and i was planning to renew it. Yesterday 18-12-2021 as i was from shaving my hair, i met a lady from my village. I stopped to greet her and i asked where she is staying! She told me, she stays at Arua Primary with her Aunt. There was another lady she was going together with to the market! She then called the lady to come greet me! She introduced me to her as “This is the Guy whose National ID is there at home in Arua primary “. I was shocked! I asked her, is this true! She said it’s real my National ID was found by her Aunt back in 2018. We planned to meet today for the delivery, and indeed she has delivered it to me now. Early this morning, the first thing i had to do when i went to church, was to give testimony in church about my N...

My Thoughts About the Incarceration of Ardent NRM Cadre Matua Job Richard.

1. His arrest comes at the hills of him singing praises at President Museveni / NRM Government. And indeed, no matter how politically coloured / supportive or patriotic oneself is, it doesn’t make them immune to arrests and above the law whenever they are wrong! Lesson learnt! 2. Much as the crime Matua was arrested of is condemnable, it shouldn’t be justification to curtail his freedom beyond constitutional rights! 3. Mr Matua who is an NRM Blogger under incarceration today, will be the same Matua they will need tomorrow as a Blogger to cleanse and defend their name / party in case anything goes wrong! That is why i urge NRM, which is the party in Government to weigh in on his fate no matter the type of case he is charged of at CMI headquarters. #DISCLAIMER . These are my personal opinions and views alone. They are not in anyway affiliated with or in the interest of any politician or any organization or any political party or any individual or any company or any foreign entity i may b...

CREDENTIALISM AND THE PROLIFERATION OF FAKE DEGREES BY SWALLEH HARUNA.

THE EMPLOYER PRETENDS TO NEED A DEGREE; THE EMPLOYEE PRETENDS TO HAVE ONE. by Swaleh Harunah. Credentialism is a reliance on formal qualifications or certifications to determine whether someone is permitted to undertake a task, speak as an expert or work in a certain field. It has also been defined as "excessive reliance on credentials, especially academic degrees, in determining hiring or promotion policies.". Many Ugandan so called journalists report dog bites when in Kenya and elsewhere, journalists report when some one bites a dog. Hope you get the difference.  Only in Uganda, you shortlist an applicant who has a bachelors degree,  a diploma in some thing, has MBA and ACCA plus CPA with several certificates. He also lectures part time etc.  At the end of the interview you wonder if the guy is like you have now known beyond the papers, how about those he teaches? How will his students be?  That is when you will understand the societal impact of the new Ugandan dis...

Hon Mathias Mpuga was on Gen Kale Kayihura’s Fuel List - Norbert Mao.

The Democratic Party (DP) President, Norbert Mao,  has this Saturday afternoon lashed at National Unity Platform (NUP), saying the leader of Opposition in Parliament was a beneficiary of former IGP Gen Kale Kayihura’s largesse. “Your current Leader of Opposition was on Kayihura’s fuel list,” alleged Mao in a heated exchange with NUP supporters on Twitter.   “I’ll fearlessly speak the truth about those who tell lies about me. Be warned. I’m loading a nuclear warhead,” he added. Kayihura, who served as IGP for almost ten years, had infiltrated the opposition parties to the core to the extent that most of the President’s harshest critics picked money from his office and fuel from police.  Mao did not provide evidence to back up his claims. Mpuuga was not readily available for comment.  It all started with Mao calling for a united opposition front to challenge Museveni’s hold onto power.     “For decades I have preached principled unity to deal with Musevenism ...

Beware! New Spyware Attack Campaign has Infected Over 35,000 Computers.

Industrial and government organizations, including enterprises in the military-industrial complex and research laboratories, are the targets of a new malware botnet dubbed PseudoManyscrypt that has infected roughly 35,000 Windows computers this year alone. The name comes from its similarities to the Manuscrypt malware, which is part of the Lazarus APT group's attack toolset, Kaspersky researchers said, characterizing the operation as a "mass-scale spyware attack campaign." The Russian cybersecurity company said it first detected the series of intrusions in June 2021. At least 7.2% of all computers attacked by the malware are part of industrial control systems (ICS) used by organizations in engineering, building automation, energy, manufacturing, construction, utilities, and water management sectors that are located mainly in India, Vietnam, and Russia. Approximately a third (29.4%) of non-ICS computers are situated in Russia (10.1%), India (10%), and Brazil (9.3%). "...

Indian Communities Want to be Recognized as a Tribe in Uganda.

What you must know; At first  they Asked for a Position in Parliament and now they are requesting to be Recognized as a Tribe in Uganda. Indians in Uganda through their community have told president Museveni to advocate for their inclusion in the Ugandan Constitution as one of the local tribes in the country. Speaking on behalf of the Indian Community, the Chairman of the Indian Association in Uganda Mohan Rao said without a tribe, they have no guarantee of their nationality since most of them have been born in Uganda and have raised their families here. “Without the Tribe Sir, our children have no guarantee of nationality. It is absurd but true that even if we are Ugandans and our children are born and educated in Uganda, they are not considered citizens of Uganda, which would not be the case if they belonged to a constitutionally recognized tribe. If they work for Multinational corporations and give birth to children outside Uganda, those children are also not considered Ugandan,...

The law (prisons act) says that if a person is taken to prison but has not been sentenced yet, or is waiting for his/her court trial, then this person is said to be on remand. This person is supposed to be treated as innocent until the trial against them is concluded and they are found guilty and convicted. Transportation of prisoners There are authorised vehicles that belong to prisons. However, sometimes a non-official vehicle m...

Facebook to Pay Hackers for Reporting Data Scraping Bugs and Scraped Datasets.

Meta Platforms, the company formerly known as Facebook, has announced that it's expanding its bug bounty program to start rewarding valid reports of scraping vulnerabilities across its platforms as well as include reports of scraping data sets that are available online. "We know that automated activity designed to scrape people's public and private data targets every website or service," said Dan Gurfinkel, security engineering manager at Meta. "We also know that it is a highly adversarial space where scrapers — be it malicious apps, websites or scripts — constantly adapt their tactics to evade detection in response to the defenses we build and improve." Automatic GitHub Backups To that end, the social media giant aims to monetarily compensate for valid reports of scraping bugs in its service and identify unprotected or openly public databases containing no less than 100,000 unique Facebook user records with personally identifiable information (PII) such a...

Apple Releases Latest iOS Update to Patch Remote Jailbreak Exploit for iPhones.

Apple on Monday released updates to iOS, macOS, tvOS, and watchOS with security patches for multiple vulnerabilities, including a remote jailbreak exploit chain as well as a number of critical issues in the Kernel and Safari web browser that were first demonstrated at the Tianfu Cup held in China two months ago. Tracked as CVE-2021-30955, the issue could have enabled a malicious application to execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges. Apple said it addressed the race condition bug with "improved state handling." The flaw also impacts macOS devices. "The kernel bug CVE-2021-30955 is the one we tried [to] use to build our remote jailbreak chain but failed to complete on time," Kunlun Lab's chief executive, @mj0011sec, said in a tweet. A set of similar kernel vulnerabilities were eventually harnessed by the Pangu Team at the Tianfu hacking contest to break into an iPhone13 Pro running iOS 15, a feat that netted the white hat hackers $330,000 in cash rewards. Hackers Weaponizing Compromised and Unpatched Servers.

Threat actors are actively weaponizing unpatched servers affected by the newly disclosed "Log4Shell" vulnerability in Log4j to install cryptocurrency miners, Cobalt Strike, and recruit the devices into a botnet, even as telemetry signs point to exploitation of the flaw nine days before it even came to light. Netlab, the networking security division of Chinese tech giant Qihoo 360, disclosed threats such as Mirai and Muhstik (aka Tsunami) are setting their sights on vulnerable systems to spread the infection and grow its computing power to orchestrate distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks with the goal of overwhelming a target and rendering it unusable. Muhstik was previously spotted exploiting a critical security flaw in Atlassian Confluence (CVE-2021-26084, CVSS score: 9.8) earlier this September. The latest development comes as it has emerged that the vulnerability has been under attack for at least more than a week prior to its public disclosure on December 10, and ...

Report; Facebook and Snapchat are still tracking iOS users who have opted out.

Earlier this year, Apple introduced its App Tracking Transparency (ATT) feature as part of iOS 14.5. The company first announced this privacy-focused addition last year, during WWDC20. ATT gives users the option to decide whether they want apps to track them across other apps and websites for tailored advertisements. By toggling it off, app developers aren’t allowed to request from users to turn it on or offer them perks for doing so. However, a report shares that services like Facebook and Snapchat are still tracking iOS users who have opted out, thanks to a loophole in Apple’s guidelines. As the Financial Times reports, some services like Facebook and Snapchat have found creative ways to track iPhone users. The loophole in Apple’s guidelines allows developers to do so, even if users disable tracking in settings. The report states that it’s “an unacknowledged shift that lets companies follow a much looser interpretation of its controversial privacy policy.” The guidelines mention that...
