On the 18th of July every year, the world celebrates Nelson Mandela’s values and dedication to serving humanity. Today we celebrate the power of individuals to make a difference and create positive change in their communities, regardless of their background or circumstances.
Nelson Mandela fought against the apartheid system, which separated people based on their skin colour and race in South Africa. Mandela believed in equality and wanted everyone to be treated equally, regardless of race. He spent 27 years in prison for his beliefs but never gave up. When he was finally released, he became South Africa’s first black president and worked to bring people together. Mandela showed the world that forgiveness and unity are powerful forces.
He taught us to stand up for what is right and treat each other respectfully and kindly.
Today, remember that we all have a part in fighting injustices and discrimination within our societies.
