In a telephone communication concerning this abrupt change, he said, his preferred symbol of "Clock" was grabbed by another candidate who was nominated ahead of him. When asked on the new Campaign Symbol and the meaning, he clarified that, his new campaign symbol is "Radio" and it implies "Proclamation of message of peace, unity, hardwork and love for socio-economic transformation of Maracha District".         The former director general of the Internal Security Organisation (ISO) Col Frank Kaka Bagyenda didn’t show up at Parliament to be vetted for his new job. He was recently appointed as Uganda’s Ambassador to Angola. He was supposed to appear before the Parliament’s Appointments Committee. Parliament’s director of communications and public affairs, Hellen Kaweesa, said the former spy chief never surfaced. Col Bagyenda and the newly appointed Uganda’s ambassador to Kenya Hassan Galiwango were supposed to appear separately before the committee for vetting. Galiwango was vetted but there was no information whether he had been approved.

Cybersecurity researchers have took the wraps off an on-going cyber fraud operation led by hackers in Gaza, West Bank, and Egypt to compromise VoIP servers of more than 1,200 organizations across 60 countries over the past 12 months. According to findings published by Check Point Research, the threat actors — believed to be located in the Palestinian Gaza Strip — have targeted Sangoma PBX, an open-sourced user interface that's used to manage and control Asterisk VoIP phone systems, particularly the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) servers. "Hacking SIP servers and gaining control allows hackers to abuse them in several ways," the cybersecurity firm noted in its analysis. "One of the more complex and interesting ways is abusing the servers to make outgoing phone calls, which are also used to generate profits. Google has stepped in to remove several Android applications from the official Play Store following the disclosure that the apps in question were found to serve intrusive ads. The findings were reported by the Czech cybersecurity firm Avast on Monday, which said the 21 malicious apps (list here) were downloaded nearly eight million times from Google's app marketplace. The apps masqueraded as harmless gaming apps and came packed with HiddenAds malware, a notorious Trojan known for its capabilities to serve intrusive ads outside of the app. The group behind the operation relies on social media channels to lure users into downloading the apps. Earlier this June, Avast discovered a similar HiddenAds campaign involving 47 gaming apps with over 15 million downloads that were leveraged to display device-wide intrusive ads. A financially-motivated threat actor known for its malware distribution campaigns has evolved its tactics to focus on ransomware and extortion. According to FireEye's Mandiant threat intelligence team, the collective — known as FIN11 — has engaged in a pattern of cybercrime campaigns at least since 2016 that involves monetizing their access to organizations' networks, in addition to deploying point-of-sale (POS) malware targeting financial, retail, restaurant, and pharmaceutical sectors. "Recent FIN11 intrusions have most commonly led to data theft, extortion and the disruption of victim networks via the distribution of CLOP ransomware" Mandiant said. Investigating authorities have raided the offices of Munich-based company FinFisher that sells the infamous commercial surveillance spyware dubbed 'FinSpy,' reportedly in suspicion of illegally exporting the software to abroad without the required authorization. Investigators from the German Customs Investigation Bureau (ZKA), ordered by the Munich Public Prosecutor's Office, searched a total of 15 properties in Munich, including business premises of FinFisher GmbH, two other business partners, as well as the private apartments of the managing directors, along with a partner company in Romania from October 6 to 8. We are pleased to inform the public that the territorial Police in Elgon Region, managed to locate the elderly woman who was caught on video being assaulted by one of our officers.  The victim was identified as MS Grace Asio a 65 year old female adult, resident of Doko Cell, Namatala ward Industrial City Division in Mbale City.  The officers regretted the incident and extended apologies from the IGP to the victim and her family members before handing over material and financial support.   We would like to add that the disturbing video was however released after the death of the officer AIP Okiror Samuel,and therefore, this hindered any further action against him.  Incidentally, the deceased was part of the team that had restored peace and calm following incidents of public disorder in the area. We take this opportunity to remind our officers of their duty to uphold the law and display high level of professionalism in the course of their duties.
