Ugandan MPs Who Voted For the Removal of Presidential Age Limit in 2017, Will Get Shillings 100 Million ($53500) Each, As Reward for Praising President Museveni and To Reject the Amendment of NSSF Bill Tabled Before Parliament.

The ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party members of parliament have reportedly benefited from yet another cash bonanza from President Yoweri Museveni. Each of the 317 NRM MPs who previously supported the lifting of the age limit is set to receive Shs 40m – just days after the clerk to parliament Jane Kibirige ordered the legislators to return Shs 20 million parliament allocated to each of the 438 MPs for COVID-19 activities. The COVID funds allocated to MPs drew an ire from the public and an embarrassing back and forth public bickering between the executive and legislature – with Museveni casting the MPs for being inconsiderate by taking public funds at the time when the country was battling the coronavirus pandemic. Museveni advised the MPs to return the money and directed the auditor general to audit the MPs who had already spent the money on relief items for their constituents within four months.  For publicly condemning them, last week, the MPs passed a m...

Museveni made the remarks during an interview with NBS Television where he noted that he is still optimistic that the general elections shall be held as scheduled. He said that the country shall go ahead and hold the general elections scheduled 2021 in case the prevailing COVID-19 is contained by June, 2020. Over 4000 Android Apps Expose User's Data Via Misconfigured Firebase Databases.

More than 4,000 Android apps that use Google's cloud-hosted Firebase databases are 'unknowingly' leaking sensitive information on their users, including their email addresses, usernames, passwords, phone numbers, full names, chat messages and location data. The investigation, led by Bob Diachenko from Security Discovery in partnership with Comparitech, is the result of an analysis of 15,735 Android apps, which comprise about 18 percent of all apps on Google Play store. "4.8 percent of mobile apps using Google Firebase to store user data are not properly secured, allowing anyone to access databases containing users' personal information, access tokens, and other data without a password or any other authentication," Comparitech said. Acquired by Google in 2014, Firebase is a popular mobile application development platform that offers a variety of tools to help third-party app developers build apps, securely store app data and files, fix issues, and even engage w...

MITYANA MUNICIPALITY MP ZAAKE's LAWYER; I WATCHED MINISTER KANIA SPEAKING FABRICATED LIES BEFORE PARLIAMENT OVER MP FRANCIS ZAAKE TORTURE CLAIMS.

*ON HONORABLE ZAAKE, AN ELDERY CID OFFICER (ZARUGABA TINKA) AND AN ELDERLY MINISTER MINISTER (OBIGA KANIA)* Yesterday afternoon, i tuned in to UBC. I was waiting for the Minister of Internal Affairs to make a statement on Hon. Francis Zaake’s torture, having been directed by the Speaker to do so in a previous session on Tuesday. My eyes were glued on television. I thought finally we were going to see a victim of torture get justice! Finally, the time came, and the Honorable Minister took to the floor. A grey haired elderly Minister. When I was growing up, I was taught to respect grey hair. You could make fun of anyone as a child, but anyone whose head bore grey hair was to be revered. As my mother would say, “You do not know what they have gone through to reach that age.” Therefore, grey hair was sacred- a symbol of of honor! Things are now upside down. The gods must be crazy. You see old men lying through their teeth and shudder. You see them stealing public funds without ...

IN DENIAL. Mityana Municipality MP Zaake Tortured Himself in Custody - Internal Affairs State Minister Kania Quashes Defamatory Claims on Security Forces.

Obiga Mario Kania, the Internal Affairs State Minister. Today, the state minister of internal affairs, Obiga Kania read his private ‘findings’ about what really ensued on the night of April 19 when Mityana MP Zaake was arrested. His report follows pressure piled by the speaker of parliament, Rebecca Kadaga who on Tuesday demanded for a report about the MP’s arrest. In part of the statement read by the minister, he claims Zaake resisted arrest and tried to fight off 23 of the arresting police officers led by the DPC Alex Mwiine and RPC Bob Kagarura. The Government statement read in Parliament today claims Hon Zaake Francis fought with 17 police officers and 6 military officers at Mityana for 3 hours. That is, from 8pm to 11pm when the 23 officers finally overpowered him and drove him from Mityana to SIU Kireka where he arrived at 11 minutes past midnight. While in custody, the deceptive government further claims Zaake pricked himself and pepper sprayed his own eyes. Zaake would ironical...

Another Group of Chinese Hackers Are Spotted Gathering Intelligence and Spying on Other Countries.

An advanced group of Chinese hackers has recently been spotted to be behind a sustained cyber espionage campaign targeting government entities in Australia, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar, and Brunei—which went undetected for at least five years and is still an ongoing threat. The group, named 'Naikon APT,' once known as one of the most active APTs in Asia until 2015, carried out a string of cyberattacks in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region in search of geopolitical intelligence. According to the latest investigation report Check Point researchers shared, the Naikon APT group had not gone silent for the last 5 years, as initially suspected; instead, it was using a new backdoor, called " Aria-body ," to operate stealthily. "Given the characteristics of the victims and capabilities presented by the group, it is evident that the group's purpose is to gather intelligence and spy on the countries whose governments it has targeted," the resear...

BREAKING NEWS. Facebook Launches “Discover” , A Secure Proxy To Browse The Internet For Free.

More than six years after Facebook launched its ambitious Free Basics program to bring the Internet to the masses, the social network is back at it again with a new zero-rating initiative called Discover. The service, available as a mobile web and Android app, allows users to browse the Internet using free daily data caps. Facebook Discover is currently being tested in Peru in partnership with local telecom companies such as Bitel, Claro, Entel, and Movistar. Unlike the regular rich-content browsing, Facebook's latest connectivity project only provides low-bandwidth text-only based browsing, meaning other forms of data-intensive content such as audio and video are not supported. Another key differentiator is that it treats all websites equally, whereas users of Free Basics are limited to a handful of sites that are submitted by developers and meet technical criteria set by Facebook. The move, ultimately, drew criticism for violating principles of net neutrality,...

New Malicious Malware Manipulates Air-Gapped Devices By Turning Power-Supplies (Transformers, PC workstations and IoT Devices) into Speakers.

Cybersecurity researcher Mordechai Guri from Israel's Ben Gurion University of the Negev recently demonstrated a new kind of malware that could be used to covertly steal highly sensitive data from air-gapped and audio-gapped systems using a novel acoustic quirk in power supply units that come with modern computing devices. Dubbed 'POWER-SUPPLYaY,' the latest research builds on a series of techniques leveraging electromagnetic, acoustic, thermal, optical covert channels, and even power cables to exfiltrate data from non-networked computers. "Our developed malware can exploit the computer power supply unit (PSU) to play sounds and use it as an out-of-band, secondary speaker with limited capabilities," Dr. Guri outlined in a paper published today. "The malicious code manipulates the internal switching frequency of the power supply and hence controls the sound waveforms generated from its capacitors and transformers." "We show that our technique works w...
