President Museveni Has Paid Shs 6.9 Billion to Indian Landlord, to Acquire the Place at National Resistance Movement (NRM) Party Head Office.
President Yoweri Museveni has finally paid off the landlord for the ruling National Resistance Movement [NRM] headquarters along Kyadondo Road in Kampala.
He made the revelation Sunday while flagging off the distribution of bicycles to NRM leaders at the village level.
President Museveni who was escorted by the First Lady, Janet Museveni to the NRM party headquarters, said he started fundraising for the NRM party 50 years ago.
“Through fundraising, I was able to get $1.9m (around sh6.9b) to pay off the Indian who used to own this place,” Museveni said in reference to the NRM secretariat structure in Kampala.
He also promised that party workers arrears would soon be cleared.
The President said he had finalized discussions to have funding for political parties increased from Shs10bn to Shs30bn.
