Congo army has captured two Ugandans it says have been recruiting fighters on behalf of the rebels group, Allied Democratic Forces (ADF).
During the fighting that occurred on Friday morning in Kasindi, the FARDC arrested an ADF recruitment officer and his wife, both Ugandans.
Another member of the movement, Congolese, was also arrested during the same operation.
FARDC didn’t disclose the particulars of those arrested or name them.
Last week, following the discovery of ADF camps near the Semuliki River, the FARDC used combat helicopters and field artillery.
About 13 ADF rebels were neutralized while four government soldiers died including a senior officer of the rank of major, company commander.
In February this year, President Museveni met with DRC’s Felix Tshisekedi and the two discussed the elimination of ADF rebels in eastern DRC in order to bolster trade between the two countries.
UN says in the first two months this year, 100,000 people in the DRC fled their homes amid attacks by ADF rebels.
About 36 people were killed by ADF in January and 15 others in February 2020.
