By law, there are certain people who must undergo regular HIV testing to prevent the transmission of HIV. This includes:
(a) Victims of sexual offences
(b) Pregnant women
(c) Partners of pregnant women
In addition to these, any person arrested for a sexual offence, must also undergo HIV testing so that the results can form part of the criminal proceedings and investigations. This is because any sexual offence becomes more serious if the accused person is HIV positive.
