Terego West Constituency MP Race; Electoral Commission Disqualifies Andua Martin an ANT Party Candidate and Sam Egama an NUP Party Candidate.
The Election commission has reversed the decision of the Returning Officer Terego electoral district of nominating Parliamentary hopeful for Terego West Andua Martin Drani on grounds that his names "O" and "A" level names he presented to EC for differ from his univerdity certificate as well as his ID.
This comes after complain was launched by one voter identified ad Candia Emmanuel and after hearing the petition EC decided to to denominate Andua alongside Mr. Sam Egama another candidate for Terego west.
Andua who acknowledged receipt of the reversed letter from the EC' Justice Byabakama Mugenyi Simon said he went to the EC twice in the month of November and all they told him was that they would be called or get the ruling through the Returning Officer of Terego.
"On the 28th of October, we separately received telephone calls from the EC at night notifying us that one Candia Emmanuel had petitioned against our nominations and that we were required to appear at the Commission on the 30th for the hearing. We discovered that two of us were petitioned against while at the EC on the morning of 30th. We also just received the copy of the petition as we entered for the hearing", Andua recalled.
According to Andua on hearing day, they found Candia Emmanuel, the purported petitioner, Candia is the LC Chairman of I'dayi Parish in A'iivu. "Considering his status and abilities, we could not believe that he could file such a petition. After he had registered and signed the attendance, I discovered that his signature and handwriting varied from the one on the letter of petition", Andua said.
Andua said this prompted him to raise a preliminary objection in which he argued that Candia Emmanuel was not the petitioner.
He further said he carried out investigations to establish the people behind the petition because he firmly believed that Candia Emmanuel did not petition against them because he could not afford transport to kampala and above all hire the services of a lawyer and his investigation revealed a lot.
