While speaking at the 12th Tarehe Sita annual thanksgiving breakfast on Saturday, Mr Museveni noted that the concept of free education for children of soldiers, spouses engaging themselves in money-making activities sponsored by the army, the idea of Wazelendo Sacco and the issue of wives using the barracks land for cultivation has been his wish since 1986. “I and other freedom fighters were not paid for 17 years. The only thing we would get was food and clothes, and when we started getting payment, still it was small. I told the fighters that although we are getting little money, we can run institutional schools which will provide free education for children of soldiers in government/army-run primary and secondary schools,” he said. Arua District. The Arua Magistrates Court has on this date 24-2-2023 jailed Arivu Sub-county LC3 Chairman Hon Edema Felix to 6 months in Prison for refusing to pay 700,000 Shs (approximately $200) to Mr Mawa a driver he hired to drive tipper Lorry belonging to his father. The ruling arose from a case the complainant who is a resident of Arivu Sub-county, Mr Mawa filed after the LC3 Chairman began dodging him. According to sources, the defiant LC III Chairman rejected rooms for dialogue on paying the money since 2020 until this day when he has been sentenced. The money (700,000 Shs) has accumulated to over 2 million shs with the arrears and costs for recovery.
