        President Yoweri Museveni has changed his name to correspond with his academic papers. In a document dated October 6, Museveni undertook a deed poll and a legal deed to formalize a change of his name. Originally Yoweri Museveni, he will now be Yoweri Tibuhaburwa Museveni and from Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to Yoweri Tibuhaburwa Kaguta Museveni. The Electoral Commission announced that aspirants with different names other than those in their academic documents will not be nominated. “I formally and absolutely renounce and abandon the use of the names, Yoweri Museveni, Yoweri Tibuhaburwa Museveni and Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and assume and adopt my full name   Yoweri Tibuhaburwa Kaguta Museveni,” reads the document. More than 140 aspiring candidates have applied for a change in names to correspond with their academic papers ahead of the 2021 elections.         President Museveni has appointed Lt. Col. Charles Oluka as the new Internal Security organization(ISO) Director-General to replace Col. Kaka Bagyenda. Changes that take immediate effect. Taban Amin has been made the new Deputy Director-General of ISO. Col Oluka “The public is hereby informed that the new Director General Internal Security Organisation (ISO) is Lt Col Charles Oluka and his Deputy is Mr Taban Amin,” army spokesperson Brig Gen Flavia Byekwaso clarified. She said Lt Katabaazi was only promoted to Major. “Some press reports have referred to him as the Deputy DG ISO which is incorrect.” In 2018, President Museveni said the late Idi Amin’s son, Brigadier Taban, is a senior director in intelligence services while the late Milton Obote’s daughter-in-law and the late Tito Okello’s son are senior ministers in the NRM government because “we never carry vendetta once conflicts are over”.

Following presentations from various stakeholders, including the parliament of Uganda on the nomination of candidates for the 2021 Parliamentary Elections, the Electoral Commission has revised its programme for the same. Members of Parliament from Northern Uganda have decried the continued power blackout with Speaker Rebecca Kadaga describing it as a scandal. “I think the issue of power in Northern Uganda is a scandal. We have had many issues here; Gulu is always in blackout, the neighbouring districts are always in black out, and as for West Nile, it is a night mare,” said Kadaga while chairing the plenary sitting of Wednesday 7, October 2020. Cybersecurity researchers have disclosed details of security vulnerabilities found in popular antivirus solutions that could enable attackers to elevate their privileges, thereby helping malware sustain its foothold on the compromised systems. According to a report published by CyberArk researcher Eran Shimony and shared,  the high privileges often associated with anti-malware products render them more vulnerable to exploitation via file manipulation attacks, resulting in a scenario where malware gains elevated permissions on the system. The bugs impact a wide range of antivirus solutions, including those from Kaspersky, McAfee, Symantec, Fortinet, Check Point, Trend Micro, Avira, and Microsoft Defender, each of which has been fixed by the respective vendor.
