Last Weekend on Saturday 20 July 2019, we  held a financial literacy for head teachers , their deputies  and some teachers in Maracha district. We there after formed Maracha District Teachers Sacco which among other benefits will promote a saving culture and also act as a cheaper source of borrowing capital for them. The training and Sacco formation was facilitated by Savings Bank Fund International and Uganda Cooperative and Savings and Credit Union,an apex organisation of all the saccos in Uganda. The Maracha  District Education Officer convened  the teachers and facilitated at the launch to give this initiative a big push. With this , the teachers will  become major actors in wealth creation and champion the path together with other actors towards middle income status in the district. Hacker Stole Data of Over 70% Bulgarian Citizens from Tax Agency Servers. Eastern European country Bulgaria has suffered the biggest data breach in its history that compromised personal and financial information of 5 million adult citizens out of its total population of 7 million people. According to multiple sources in local Bulgarian media, an unknown hacker earlier this week emailed them download links to 11GB of stolen data which included taxpayer's personal identifiable numbers, addresses, and financial data. In a brief statement released Monday, the National Revenue Agency (NRA) of Bulgaria said the stolen data originates from the country's tax reporting service. The Citizens have continued to avoid paying the over the top services (OTT) daily taxes, with Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) collecting a mere Shs 49.5bn out of the projected Shs 284bn in the last financial year.  Last Year in July 2018, government introduced the Shs 200 daily tax for use of social media platforms such as Facebook, Whatsapp, but the taxbody says they registered a shortfall of 83 per cent as only 17.4 per cent of internet subscribers were able to pay the tax. URA commissioner general Doris Akol attributes the shortfall to use of Virtual Private Networks (VPN) and wireless networks in their offices and restaurants. Today we held a graduation ceremony for 27 mushroom farmers in a pilot project conducted by JB International  and funded by NAADS in Oluffe Sub-County. We lobbied JB International to establish their regional office in Maracha at Ovujo. We lobbied for 99  million from NAADS for training the farmers ,setting up 2 laboratories for the seed multiplication,two demonstration farms  and sĺxp for  buying start up kits for them. Whereas DFCU top management reported the matter to Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department (CIID) in Kibuli, Kampala, they have since concealed details regarding the heist. Through our investigations, we have established that the crime was executed by four junior staff and two outsiders who have since been arrested and are currently in police custody.
